It split to $58 a year ago and today hit $94. So much for “meaningless” 😂😂. This is not WoW 😂😂. If you owned one share before the split at $175, it split and then you had 3 shares at $58 each. Now those 3 shares are $94 each, for a total of $282. Thats 62% profit in 12 months! As far as splitting again I doubt it. Probably wouldn’t have the same run short term. But long term it should definitely gain, based on historical data. More on reddit.com

Split happens on 2/26 shares are valid for the split before 2/22. Walmart is up almost 1% after hours. (assuming because of this news) Since I have another 30 years in the market is this now a growth stock after the split and do we expect the dividend % to increase after the split and the lower $ value of the share.
This is my first stock split that I am a part of so really not sure what to do here.
Thanks for your thoughts and considerations!

The split makes absolutely no difference in regards to the fundamentals of the company.

The stock split itself is benign. Dividends and dividend-% all benign. However, often a (forward, not reverse) stock split is a sign of the company being confident and doing well. It might “pop” on the news of the split? (Usually things “pop” on the rumours and fall on the news). But as a retail investor you’re last to know, esp. if you can’t trade til markets open. If/as you’re in it for 30 years, it probably makes exactly no difference whether you buy before or after the split.

November 27, 2022 - They'll be greater ties to the company, more loyal, care more because they want their stock to do well. Helps run a more effective company. On paper though , there is no value. ... A forward split is positive for a company and its investors. A reverse split is negative for a company and it’s investors. ... I have owned WMT a long time and was finally ready to sell.

I wonder how often Walmart will do a stock split? It took nearly 24 years to do it but our money is building rapidly it seems like it maybe every 2-3 years now or depending how much it builds

As someone who used to be a financial journalist in another life, I can tell you stock splits are largely meaningless. Executives want you to believe that a split signals future rapid growth, but there's never been any real correlation between a split and future growth. Literally, the only thing they do is help new investors get into the stock because it's suddenly more affordable after a split. But for everyone already invested, it's a meaningless event. Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Class A shares have NEVER split. They're currently worth $686,182.44 each. And Berkshire Class B shares; only split was in 2010 when there was a 50:1 split. WMT's last stock split was in Feb. 2024 when there was a 3 for 1 split. Prior to that, the last time was in 1999.
