Where's your RAM? I feel like it's your main problem. But most mobos use 00 as CPU post, so I'll reseat the CPU + check if the socket & CPU are both not damaged & clean. Also please mount your cpu cooling fan properly. You can bend mounting brackets from big paper clips - will be totally better than random ziptie Edit: taking out battery doesn't work on some Asus mobos, locate the CLRTC pair of contacts on the motherboard and short em with screwdriver. Hey, all -- would appreciate any thoughts on this. Been using the same machine I built in college for about a decade now, with a GPU midlife upgrade but otherwise without any big changes or problems. While web-browsing two days ago, suddenly it wouldn't connect to USB and then seconds later unexpectedly powered off. Upon trying to restart, my Asus motherboard starting flashing a 00 code. Briefly, the monitors continued to work, but now they won't connect, either.
I did some googling and already tried clearing the CMOS by pulling out the battery, to no effect. Also tried getting into the bios by pressing the function keys (and delete) while restarting, and that hasn't worked. I can't figure how to get into the BIOS at all, and without the monitors working, I'm at a loss. I'm hoping there's something dumb I'm missing! Would be grateful for any help.

I have a couple of similar ASUS boards up and have had issues with this kit. I'll be digging into it more this week. Our testing is focused elsewhere, but I'll look at that kit a bit more and see what I can figure out. In our case the board wouldn't POST until discharged the system. Then it did train and POST, however we encountered stability issues. It sounds like you're encountering a cold boot issue. Are you stable when it does boot?
I don't have the board in front of me, but try this. There's a setting I believe is called MCR. Used to be called MRC on DDR4 boards. Its purpose it to speed up your boot and wake times by not training every time. Disable this, let the board retrain every time you start it up. Lets see if that has any impact first. I'll get more information this week.

When I can get windows to boot, the system is 100% trouble free. I am terrified to reboot, but I recently turned off "fast boot" based on something I read on another forum. It didn't improve anything once disabled. Here goes nothing with the "MCR "setting if I can located that. If you see another reply, it must have worked.
