Is hardwood plywood worth the money over sanded plywood if it's going to be painted?
1/2” plywood or 3/4”

Would ½ inch plywood be good for this?
I'm building a built-in cubby bench that will sit underneath a window with a wall on its left side and a wardrobe on the opposite side. The bench will ultimately be painted.
Local lumberyard is selling 4x8 sheets of oak hardwood plywood for $100 and birch hardwood plywood for $120. Big box store has sanded plywood options at almost half that price, like $60-65 or so.
I'm going to ultimately paint this thing. Is it still worth it to buy the more expensive wood? Not sure what I am getting for the cost. I'm mostly just afraid of buying warped boards from Lowes since I don't have a jointer/planer.
I’ve started building my collection of tools since moving from home a year ago and it’s now a pile in the corner of my room. (I live in a townhome with roommates that don’t appreciate my tools on the dining room table). I have planned out a super basic cabinet about 20”x20”x60”. I was wondering if 1/2” plywood is enough or if I should go for 3/4”. Checking it out at Home Depot 3/4” plywood seems way thicker than I need and 1/2” could probably do the job. Was hoping to get other’s experiences on which they prefer and maybe specific uses for each? Thanks!
Wife is looking to have this made for daycare storage. Would I be able to get a 4x8 sheet of ½ inch plywood and it have the strength? https://i.imgur.com/H7NBGaO.jpg
