Suggestions for 1/8" collet die grinders
I've never really seen 1/8 specific die grinders before except from Dumore. Usually 1/8 is for rotary tools. Rotary tools spin faster than die grinders. But in your case should be ok. Just get 1/4 to 1/8 adapters. I like the kind that has a lip on it but I only have one. Tried to find another one for work but they were expensive for what they are. February 3, 2025Is there a way to make a 1/4"-collared die-grinder take 1/8" (Dremel) bits?
I have one of these- it's probably one of my most used tools in the shop aside from the angle grinder. There are tons of 1/4" bits/burrs/grinding stones available- this tool has enough power that I've snapped some of them. I can't imagine that the 1/8" shank burrs would last long. Here's a link to one of the suppliers that I use. They have a pretty wide selection. Hi all, I'm a caterpillar mechanic that works on old trucks, I do a ton of broken bolt extractions. I'm looking for a 1/8" collet die grinder to use with carbide burr bits to make getting broken bolts out easier than just drilling them out. I currently have the mac tools 1/4hp 1/4" collet die grinders which work okay but I want something that I can use 1/8th inch carbide burr bits for the smaller stuff. Mac doesnt make a 1/8" collet for these die grinders unfortunately. Most of the bolts I have to drill out are 5/16". Looking for suggestions on some decent medium to heavy duty die grinders that can use a 1/8" collet. I searched ingersoll rand and other similar companies, can't seem to find anything other than dremel that have 1/8" collet and I dont think dremel will last very long in this application since its for work not just a hobby it will see a lot of use. Thanks in advance

There are ball bearing variable speed Dremels. The carbide tooling gets the job done but it's expensive. Do you use roll pin assortments as drill bushings. So you can put the old part back on. Use a roll pin as a guide to let you drill straight thru the middle. I got from luky hardware in burbank some 1/2" Od 1/4" id drill bushings for cheap. I use them in the square drive of a socket wedged on a lug nuts or locking lug nut to drill right thru the middle then deep into the stud to create a centered pilot hole to come back with a bigger drill to go thru the stud without any possible damage to the wheels. McMaster and others sell them too.
