I screen print t-shirts for a living and I can share my knowledge and opinions of the brands being listed here.
Gildan shirts are the cheapest "go-to" brand in the print industry. Ideal for average body types. They do tend to be a bit more "boxy" shaped than the other brands being listed. I'm not a big fan of Gildan shirts because they are too inconsistent with their fit. I wear a large, and only about 20% of the time Gildan shirts will fit me great. For Gildan, I prefer the 50/50 cotton/poly blend t-shirts because they are a bit lighter and more breathable than their 100% cotton counterpart.
District Threads are a very lightweight, stretchy t-shirt. They are ideal for skinny or petite body frames. Most of their apparel tends to run a size small, but their "concert tee" line runs about 2 sizes too small. I usually don't recommend District Threads because I prefer other brands in the same price range.
Next Level is one of the more popular brands that is requested by my customers. They have a more athletic fit and tend to have a longer torso without being too "boxy" shaped. Very accurate and consistent with their fit. Their ring-spun 100% cotton shirts are super soft and don't shrink too much in the dryer. This brand is good for people that prefer thin, lightweight t-shirts. This brand makes the best v-necks, they don't stretch out after the first wash.
Bella+Canvas is my favorite brand. Their shirts tend to have an athletic fit with a longer torso, just like Next Level. Their sizes are pretty intuitive, so I would recommend this brand for all varieties of body types. This brand has great color options, and has large variety of fashionable styles for men and women. I enjoy the softness and feel of wearing b+c shirts above all the other brands I've listed. B+C shirts aren't as thin as next level shirts, but they do have a variety of fabric weights available for people that prefer very thin or thick material.
For those saying they don't like how thin next level or b+c shirts are, I would recommend Hanes Beefy Tees. They tend to have a "boxy" fit like Gildan, but they are a soft, thick, 100% cotton shirt. This type of shirt has the least breathable fabric of all the brands I've listed.
Feel free to ask about any other t-shirt brands.
