Building our first home. It is a mid century style ranch, and with the way prices are, we want to cut costs. One of the builders recommended vinyl board and batten for the house instead of brick or Hardie board. What do y’all think?
I will try to link the photo.

Hi everyone,
We recently finished our build, and while the process was mostly great, our siding experience was less than desirable. The crew rarely showed when they said they would, and their work wasn’t what I would consider up to par.
Since the install of vertical siding on the front of the house, we’ve had consistent issues with “bubbling” in areas. Initially, it was only a few pieces, and the company sent the crew back up to replace them. The same ones bubbled again, and the company said they would no longer replace them.
Fast forward a month or two, and nearly all the siding is bubbling. From your experience, what is could be causing this, and what recourse do I have? The company has already been paid.
A little background:
The company is a large exterior company in a local city. The installers are one of their subs. The company provided the material and the subs to install. This was not a crew that my builder chose.
