1 kg = 2.2 lb. So the correct way is to divide by the number of pounds by 2.2 to get the number of kg. If you just divide by 2, you're going to get an answer which is too big, so you need to take another 10% off to get a more accurate answer. This sounds like a trick for doing it mentally without a calculator. For example: What is 50 lb in kg? Correct answer: 50/2.2 = 22.7 kg. Mental math: 50/2 = 25, and take another 10% off (which is 2.5) for a final answer of 22.5. As you can see, it's not the exact answer but pretty close. Going the other way, multiply the number of kg by 2.2 to get the number of pounds. 100 kg = 100 * 2.2 = 220 lb. Mental math approach: Double it (200) and add 10% (20) for a final answer of 220.
