Is the Post Office good for currency exchange?
Can I order foreign currency online from the Post Office?
Yes, you can order foreign currency online from the Post Office. The Post Office offers a range of currencies for purchase online, which you can then collect in branch or have delivered to your home address. Ordering online can be a convenient way to get the currency you need, as you can choose from a wider range of currencies and exchange rates. However, it's important to be aware that some delivery fees may apply and that you may need to order the currency in advance to ensure it's available when you need it.
Can I exchange foreign currency at the Post Office?
Yes. Post Office offers currency exchange in bureaux de change, in their stores and online. But when you buy travel money in cash – either in store, online or with click and collect – you could be subject to an unfair exchange rate with hidden fees. Use a travel money card instead to save when travelling abroad.
I am asking because the website says they do but I tried to exchange GBP£ for euros in March and the woman at the post office desk said "sorry, we don't buy currency." This was the main post office too, not a tiny branch office. (I ended up posting it to a friend in the UK who posted euros back to me, it felt like the 80s.)
I'm about to return from the US with a few hundred in cash and I just want to know if I can definitely exchange it for Euros at the post office. Otherwise I'll take the even worse exchange rate and exchange for euros at Logan airport.
