I like where the fridge is I really wish the oven had landing space on both sides and wasn't right next to an active doorway, I think that's asking for pots and pans to get knocked off and people to get burned. I don't think the island is your best use of this smaller space. I would try this: Instead of the island, have a counter on the right-hand wall under the window. Add a peninsula for your seating area, so your back is to the living room. Put the sink on this new counter, under the window. Dishwasher goes either next to the sink or where the oven is now (if you can get the plumbing to work). Then, put the oven about where the sink currently is but more towards the corner. Next to the fridge you could add a full height pull out pantry, even if it's narrower like 18". You could have a built in microwave in the pantry if it's wide enough, or go over-the-range if you like that. (I prefer not to deal with changing altitudes with bowls of boiling hot soup, so I want my MWave at counter height, but this is totally personal preference.) More on reddit.com

I would recommend enlisting a kitchen designer. This is a tight space, and there are a lot of paths of traffic in and around the kitchen. A designer will help make sure you’re not creating bottlenecks or punch points in your layout, especially if you want to add new workspaces and move key elements like the sink around. Handwashing Sink: My SO and I both cook together, so it would be so so so handy to have a handwashing area separate from the one being used for prep/dish washing. Double Wall Ovens: For when I'm processing a ton of produce from the garden into meals for freezing. It's also frustrating playing stovetop shuffle when someone needs in the oven while someone else is using the range. No Corner Cabinets: I hate them, they're banned. The gadgets to optimize corner cabinets don't change my thoughts in the slightest. Peg Board Wall: I hang most small kitchen utensils, sauté pans, lids, etc. on a peg board in the kitchen. Super easy to access frequently used things. I'll get a photo and edit later if I remember. Edit: Picture as promised! Walk-in Pantry: Not just some little closet! It'd house all the dry goods, a deep freezer, and storage carts on casters. (Which are currently housed in our living room.) Honestly, that's a perfectly reasonably sized kitchen. The trick is a decent layout - if you put an island and a bunch of hallways in that space, it'll feel very cramped (looking at you, HGTV L-with-an-island layout). If you make (or have) a nice U shaped layout, it'll be one of the nicest kitchens you've ever used. My kitchen is 10x10, and it was custom designed by the previous owner, a professional wedding cake baker. It's amazing - there's an actual work triangle, there are cabinets on 3 of the walls (the 4th is open to the dining area/rest of the house) so I have more storage space than I know what to do with, and there are enough work spaces (4' of continuous counter space) that I've had 3 people preparing 3 different meals in there at once (hosting family for thanksgiving weekend) without anyone tripping over anyone else.
