Sound recorder in the 1500 cad (1100 usd) range ( F8n pro vs mixpre 6 ii basically)
I own and use the f8n and the 6ii and 10ii pretty regularly, I find them equivalent in terms of sound quality. I don’t own an f8n pro but just ordered one to replace one of my f8n’s and it should be here this week. Basically the same unit aside from 32-bit as far as I can tell, so I think my experience is worth offering for you to consider.
If I could only have one, I’d pick the f8n pro due to better battery life, better timecode connections, proper power ports, the dual SD cards, and the better user interface.
The mixpre 6ii is nice because you can power it from the usb-c port, but that’s the only real feature it has that the zoom doesn’t cover, and the zoom comes with a Hirose power connector that can also adapt to usb-c if that’s what you prefer to use. The battery life on the 6ii is atrocious for a 6-channel recorder in my use, even using external batteries. It requires a larger battery for equivalent run time. The touch screen isn’t bad, but I personally find it limiting.
My most preferred feature on the zoom are the physical menu buttons, the dual sd cards, and the bnc inputs and outputs for timecode. You can accomplish all the same things on the mixpre in an equivalent way, but it’s using 3.5mm aux cables and adapters. I really just use the mixpre for the 32-bit safety net that my current f8n doesn’t have available.
Whatever you do, it’s well worth also purchasing a good bag and making up connectors for your rig, especially the low profile XLR 90’s and leader cables. A well constructed system is much easier to use and less error prone. I usually run wireless on 3,4 and wired on 1,2, and just set them all up that way. Helps with the brain farts a lot.

Good plan. Your budget is overkill for what you want to play, but it can get you a pretty decent laptop anyway.
Ideally, you'd wanna go for an Asus tuf a15 or f15 with a 4070 gpu imo, as those are great affordable laptops that are really only held back by the screen (which you don't care about). I've seen them go for around 1000$ in the US before.
If you wanna go for a laptop that performs perfectly, but skimps out on almost everything else like build quality, screen, battery life.... Acer nitro 16 and MSI katana/sword 15 (same laptop) (DISCLAIMER: shady hinges with the msi model) with 4070's are pretty cheap (relatively lol) and use the full power of their 4070.
Or you could go with something a bit more balanced like the lenovo loq, but that model comes with a 4060 maximum.
Or if you can find a good midrange 2022 laptop like a legion 5 with a 3070ti (performs between the 4060 and 4070) and it will perform quite well too.
