12:30 p.m. means noon or midnight? 12:30 p.m. means noon or midnight? Tks.
The abbreviation 'am' stands for 'ante meridiem', which is a Latin term meaning 'before noon', while 'pm' stands for 'post meridiem' meaning 'after noon'. Therefore, both 12pm and 12am denote the same time of day : twelve hours after noon or twelve hours before noon are both midnight. More on italki.com

If 12 AM is midnight, why is 12 PM noon? Shouldn’t “AM” stand for after midnight and “PM” after morning?
AM stands for "ante meridiem", which means "before midday" and PM stands for "post meridiem", meaning "after midday." More on reddit.com

CMV: It would make more sense for 12 PM to be midnight and 12 AM to be noon
Should just stop using 12 and change to 00. That would be accurate on both ends. More on reddit.com

Is noon 12am or 12pm? – Weirder Than You Think
March 21, 2013 - 12.01pm – one minute past noon – is definitely in the afternoon, and is rightly referred to as pm. Noon itself though isn’t in the morning or the afternoon, being the exact moment of transition between the two, and thus doesn’t strictly need a suffix of am or pm at all other than for the very important reason of distinguishing it from 12 o’clock midnight – which is why it’s so important not to get your 12.00ams and 12.00pms confused!
