12v led light recommendations?

I recommend led strips. They come warm (3500⁰ K) and are great for tucking away so the light is ambient and the light source never hits your eye. They only draw about 24 watts. They run on USB so there's that but they come with a remote. More on reddit.com

LED strip w/ USB power source able to convert to 12 volt for car?

There are different strips that accept 5V, 12V, and even 24V. A USB powered (5v) strip will die when powered with 12V. Here is a link to some Step-Down Voltage Regulators https://www.pololu.com/category/131/step-down-voltage-regulators Admittedly, the strips (when I turn them to the white color) start fading to yellow 3/4's of the way down the strip. You could absolutely get yourself a 120VAC to 12VDC adapter / power supply and run those lights. As long as your power supply is larger in power capacity than your lights consumption.
