August 4, 2022Best outdoor LED lights that can connect to existing 12v landscaping power?
I think most landscape lighting is 24v AC and LED strips are 12v DC so I don't think you'll find anything compatible. You can just put a 12vdc transformer on a smart switch though. Also, LED strips (even the waterproof kind) are very unreliable. You'll spend more time on repairs than it's worth. I belong to a few outdoor christmas lighting groups and the saying is "Friends don't let friends do strips" More on reddit.com

November 24, 2008 - A homes association had me bid installing an outdoor outlet on each side of a street to plug in Christmas lights on the neighborhood signs. There is an outdoor panel 150 feet away for a sprinkler timer outlet. My cost to trench 150 feet to the 1st outlet and horizontal bore under the street to the 2nd outlet came to $4500. So at $2250 an outlet, they got to thinking of alternatives :) At the panel there is a landscape lighting transformer which powers a 20 watt light on each side of the street.

Hi everyone! I have low voltage lighting throughout the backyard for spot lights. I have two oak trees that I would like to wrap Christmas lights to but tap into the low voltage wiring.
What are my purchase options? I don't think I can, but you can't convert regular 120v to low voltage, correct? (Without using a step down transformer).

Before I can offer any real suggestions can you answer the following questions what voltage is the wiring running your outdoor light that you want to use to power these additional lights? what is the max rated output (Watts, mA, Amps) of the transformer running your existing outdoor lights what is the current amount of power (Watts, mA, Amps) that your current setup is consuming. This is to determine if you'd overload your current setups power supply by adding the additional lights. what kind of lights do you want to add and do you want them to do anything (flash run a fun pattern ect). I need to know to offer some basic recommendations. what do you estimate to be the length and or led count you wish to use to wrap your trees. Answer these and I'll try my best to help you. Also note I'm in Australia, we do things differently and have different products, I'll try my best to offer a solution/s that may work for you.
