Just bought a home. Have basically never done... anything. Ever.
Trying to make a 2 row 12x12 paver walkway to wheel trash and recycling cans on. Roots giving me problems.
Planning on using paver base, sand, then pavers on top. Should I just do this but slope the paver base and sand slightly upward at the root and just leave the root exposed? Trash and recycling can should be able to go over it.
OR lay the paver base and sand over top of the root, place the paver on the sand (not the root)
Plan now is to place the pavers 7 inches from one another as this is the width of the root (probably just like 3 inches apart side by side). Use pea gravel to fill the spaces? Feel like the cans wont roll on this easily on this tho. Any ideas appreciated :)

If you're doing a brand new area, you need to start by taking off the sod and digging down to remove a bit of soil (4-6 inches). You can put landscape fabric down at this point too, to reduce the roots growing up again. Add a layer of fine pea gravel and stone dust and tamp it level, smooth and compacted.
Lay your patio stones in whatever pattern you prefer, edge with a plastic border and put some polymeric sand down to fill the joints. Wet the sand to activate it and let dry to cure. You'll have a patio that will last and be weed free for years
