I'm upgrading my 5+ year old PC, and switching from AMD to intel bc Raptor Lake looks great. I was going to get the i9-13900k, but the i7-13700k seems to perform about the same, has a higher base clock speed, and is $200 cheaper.
I know the best performance would be the i9-13900k, but that mainly seems to come from overclocking, which I haven't done before. I'm sure I could learn it, but I don't really fine like I need it most of the time. I'm having trouble finding info on which CPU is better for value if neither is overclocked in the benchmark, so I'm hoping someone here has the answer.
Also, are there any water coolers that are particularly good for these CPUs?
Other parts in my build:
3080 ti
MSI Pro 7690-A
PNY Performance 16GB DDR5
Power supply depends on which CPU I get.

I would go with an i7 and spend the extra on a $ on a 3080ti.

I'm building a pc and I've decided to run the rtx 3070 as my gpu. I've hit a wall and I just can't decided on the cpu. I know I want intel because I just prefer it over AMD, but I can't decided if I should just get the i7-13700k since it performs great with the 3070 in terms of gaming. Or if I should just say screw it and get an i9-13900k. I'm only going to be gaming and maybe light streaming at best. Any input is greatly appreciated.
I would go with an i7 and spend the extra on a $ on a 3080ti.
You would see basically zero performance gain from a 13700k to a 13900k for gaming. The extra E-cores are the only reason to step up to the 13900k, and they aren't good for gaming. For streaming you're likely better off using NVENC on your GPU rather than x264 on the CPU.
I have an RTX 4080 and I'm mainly going to use the build for 4k gaming and video editing. This is my first ever build. Does the increased performance of the 13900k justify its price and power usage in comparison to the 13700k? In addition, is the 13700kf comparable to the 13700k?
