April 12, 2023Is there vinyl sheet flooring today that is comparable to what was around 16 years ago and/or anything that won't tear within a year?
About a year ago we had this installed in our kitchen and two bathrooms: https://tarketthome.com/Products/Hard-Flooring/Luxury-Sheet/Easy-Living It's been excellent - really soft and padded but still very durable and I love the finish, which is just slightly textured (not rough, but matte so that it's never slippery). It replaced a 36-year-old linoleum sheet floor, and is so much nicer and seems like it will last a really long time. We didn't use big box stores - we went to a local independent carpet & tile store. You are correct, check for flatness in all directions. It’s nice to have all flooring at the same height but not necessary. If you do add 1/2 ply, screw it down and into joists if you can More on reddit.com

I have a room that is 20x16' that I would like to put vinyl sheet flooring in (I'm poor, please don't judge). The problem is the sheets only come in 12' rolls. How do I minimize the seam? It's a kitchen, so we're talking high traffic area. I was thinking adding cabinets to each side, so that there's only 12 feet in between them and have the sheet only run up to the bottom of the cabinet. Problem with this is that there's a door along the 20' wall that would cause 2' gap between the end of the vinyl and the beginning of the door. I do not know what to do with this space. Any suggestions? I can add a blue print of the room if needed for visualization. Thank you.

It's very hard to find anything over 12 feet wide. Are you very against have a seam? A good installer, using proper seam sealer and technic can make it invisible and long lasting. We do it everyday, there's nothing wrong with a seam when done well
