Wow, you're in luck--I just happened to stress test both the R and Q at a recent costco visit since they were side-by-side. It is also important to note that the 12th gen was like $950 vs the 13th gen at $1200-ish. If this was the difference and and if I was buying--no contest--I'd go for the 12th gen because there isn't a 20% performance boost for that cost premium. I got into the demo mode on each and ran the free online graphics benchmark 'motionmark' on both of them to stress them both at about the same time. I could hear the fans spin up as they both started getting to the page where circles are being drawn, which was fairly early in the test. I felt both fans to see how their heat output was, and they were the same as far as I can tell, and the displays were equally as fast, bright, etc. There's a difference on the keyboard that I could feel, but I'm spoiled on keyboards because I've typing on a Model M for the last 20+ years. They both felt the same weight-wise, and I didn't check the ports or anything since I could check that online. I just wanted to get a feel for them both in person as I have a Q as well as an N I bought used. I only need the screen as my normal workstations are 30" 2560x1600 displays and using a 1080p display with rdp was always messing up my windows. I had to leave before the test completed (it's a long test), so I would read reviews on the stuff that's important to you (graphics, battery life, screen, keyboard, etc) as you'll find some differences between the two, and the only thing that matters if that difference matters to you. :) Happy hunting!
