Post title had a typo, the target length is 64" not 68"
Here's what I've come up with-- added a third piece at the bottom, and freehand cut a "peninsula" to fill the space between the original boards. I still have to cut some width off the longer pieces (it's just an 18"wide console table). Just have to decide which side I'll mourn less - the wood's so pretty on both sides LOL.
My solution will get me to about 60" overall length -- any longer and it would look -in my opinion -like a sea of epoxy rather than a river, and I think the star of this show should be the walnut. I know she'll love the gift just as much.
(for all the river table haters: she really really wants one and thinks they're beautiful)
ETA: I'll re-shape the areas where the curves are still a bit sharp, for now just wanted to do a rough fit of the 3 pieces
