UPDATE: per u/1PasswordCS-Blake this only impacts V6 and older releases of v7. The latest version of v7 will still work.
*** Original Post: I got this email today, looks like 1Password is going to break v7 from working starting on May 1, 2025. I've held out on v7 on desktop as I like the older interface better and IMO the old "1Password Extension (desktop app required)" browser extension works better.
1Password v8 on mobile is significantly better than v7 though.

I don’t see where it says they are “breaking it from working” per se? Rather a description of the circumstances under which, and how, it will work?

I’ve apparently been blissfully using v8 for however long it’s been out without any obvious issues, across multiple browsers, on my MacBook and iPhone.

I'm one of the converts to 1Password after the Lastpass hacks last year. At the time I devoted some thought to choosing my best solution, and settled on 1Password 7 in MacOS on my m2 MacBook Air.
But now after 10 months, I can't recall why I decided to go with version 7 rather than 8, but I'm pretty sure it's because of something I read here. I went over the site briefly but couldn't find the feature comparison to understand the differences.
So I wanted to ask opinions as to whether that was still the case as to preferring one over the other, or whether I should just switch over?

I think 7 was the last version where you could host your vault wherever you wanted. 8 is all online via 1Password's cloud. If you want to keep using 1Password I would recommend just moving to 8. Or if the cloud isn't your thing, go to something else like Keepass.

Just switch over. You can't run an old version forever anyway. If you don't do it now, you will get forced into it or changing software altogether at some point.
