I think 7 was the last version where you could host your vault wherever you wanted. 8 is all online via 1Password's cloud. If you want to keep using 1Password I would recommend just moving to 8. Or if the cloud isn't your thing, go to something else like Keepass. More on reddit.com

August 22, 2023Migrating from 1Password 7 to 1Password 8
1Password 8 doesn't support local vaults. 1Password 7 and 8 are separate apps. So you could have both installed at the same time, but I'm not sure this is supported or recommended. I would export a backup from 1Password 7 and keep this in a separate system of record. For example, directly save it in a Veracrypt container. Then use 1Password 7 to move all the items from your local vaults to your 1Password account. Install 1Password 8, check everything is there and then uninstall 1Password 7. More on reddit.com

I’m still on 1Password 7 for iOS and the browser extension on Windows PC. I held off on switching to 8 because it had really bad reviews and users reporting issues.
Checking in again to determine if I should switch now. I looked at most recent iOS reviews and it doesn’t paint a pretty picture, but I know reviews can be biased towards negativity.
Anyone have thoughts on 7 vs 8 and if 8 has been going smoothly for them? I’m fine with holding off longer if the app needs to bake longer, but would prefer being on the latest version of tech that is supported.
