Am I missing something or is this the end of me being able to use an offline vault with Firefox?

Welcome to the subscription model and the forcing of users to use 1PW's cloud. Looks like the end is near for 1PW classic users like myself. Local vaults were a huge security advantage and provided users the ability to store their data wherever they wanted. Worked great. It's all a need to keep investors happy, sadly. Subscriptions mean more money. There are alternatives. Products like Minimalist and EnPass allow you to store your data wherever you like. I think we'll be seeing more and more password apps like this for folks jumping the 1PW ship floating in the cloud.

The 1Password classic extension will stop working in July 2023 and below text says : will no longer be supported. Meaning it will Stop working, like there is timebomb mechanism already in place, or this means it will Stop working only when browsers will be updated. Tend to think there is already something in main app which will refuse to accept old extension. =(

Hi. I just upgraded from 1Password 4 to 7 but purchased a standalone licence. I typicaly use Firefox as my browser but when I've installed the extension, it doesn't link with my existing installation, it asks me to sign in to my 1password account/subscription -- which I don't have. Is my standalone licence not compatible with Firefox?

The current 1Password browser extension (formerly named 1Password X) directly connects to the 1Password servers, which you can’t use without a 1Password account.

Classic extension is being deprecated due to Manifest V2 being dropped in Chrome, if you want to grab the extension you need to go to https://app-updates.agilebits.com/product_history/OPX4 to get the download directly.

There's currently an issue in Firefox which is causing all extensions, including 1Password, to be disabled. This means no extensions will work in Firefox until Mozilla resolves this issue. In the meantime, you can still use the 1Password extension in several other browsers. Here's the link to download the 1Password extension for Chrome and Opera:

Alternatively, if you have a 1Password account, you can use 1Password X (our newest browser extension) in any Chromium-based browser, like Opera, Vivaldi, and Brave:
