Been using 1Passwors for years, and my anual renewal is coming up. When I first subscribed it was best I'm class in my opinion.
Is that still the case, or are there any better alternatives out there today?
My main devices are an Android phone and Windows computers, so interoperability and cloud sync is important.
I've been looking to switch to a cheaper alternative of 1Password, but I don't seem to find anything that has all the features that 1Password has, probably gonna keep it but wanted to check if you guys know any. Must haves for me are Autofill, built in 2FA and autofill for 2FA codes. If anything comes to mind, please do let me know!

I've been an old-time user of 1Password, but to be honest, I've recently grown disappointed with this app. It's full of bugs and lacks progress (the subscription model doesn't help either).
What are you guys using as an alternative for a managing passwords? Preferably something that works well on both macOS and iOS
I’m trying to stop as many of my subscriptions as possible and 1password is one that I’ve had for years and years because it’s one of those apps that just works well.
I have a family of three and we share passwords between the parents and then sometimes between the kiddo.
Is there anything out there with that level of control and functionality?
Does anyone have a good alternative to 1Password?
I've been using 1Password for probably over a decade and I have friends in need of a password keeper.
We are 100% against subscription models and thus we need something new.
It's disappointing that the standalone license is no longer offered, but I guess it is what it is.
Keychain of Apple is quite convenient and cool to use on Safari, but it is not when I surf on Firefox.
So I was recommended 1password as an app to solve my problem, but i think it's too expensive, thinking it is basically subscription.
So here's the question.
Can you recommend password management app including Autofill feature in both Safari and Firefox ?(cheaper than 1password)
Happy day :)
After Dashlane's recent price change for Family Premium, it became unaffordable for me. NordPass & Proton Pass came up as good family plan alternatives but they are too new products for me to trust. Bitwarden looked promising but I can't use an app that looks like it's from 2012. So 1Password it is.
I've been a 1Password users since it's inception in 2006. What a great app that was back in the days! Simple, easy-to-use, powerful. But now it seems that the app has lost its way and has become bloatware. The move to Electron and now it's inclusion of managing crypto and NFTs has really shaken my confidence in this app and the team behind it.
Are there any alternatives to 1Password for the Mac that allow you to manage passwords across multiple Apple devices?
I've been with 1Password for two years. The software seems to get worse with each subsequent release. Now I can't get my web browsers to fill 1Passwords and after two weeks I'm realizing the tech support is non existent. And they won't refund me for a product that doesn't work.
Anyway, time to try something else. Anyone have any good experiences with alternatives to 1password. I work on iOS, MacOS and Windows. Also, need the ability to share passwords with family members. Thanks!
I’ve been a 1Password user since the very first releases (bought the first license in 2008). I really trust the software quality of 1Password, but if the recent version 8 release for iOS is any indicator of the main app’s direction, I must start look for an alternative. We handle very sensitive customer data that must never be stored anywhere else than on our premises. (It doesn’t matter how many security certificates the 1Pwd company have.)
Does anyone have any suggestions for a 1Password alternative that allows local-only password storage? So far I have not been successful finding a solution and I don’t really want to revert to the old “encrypted spresheet” solution. o_o
I see everyone talking about leaving because of the new Mac Version, and I am also thinking about it, but what are the alternatives? I have yet to find one that works as good as 1Password.
Any help in finding an alternative would be great!
Thanks
I’m interested to see how good iCloud Keychain will be on macOS 12 with the new client and support for one time passwords.
My list to evaluate (I have an annual subscription until January, so I have plenty of time)

Bitwarden and 1Password are the most recommended options. I already have access of Bitwarden family plan and I am searching for a personal one, you guys suggested me to use Bitwarden again. But, I don't like to use same things again.
So, here I am again, requirements are simple -
-
cloud sync
-
secure and privacy focused
-
mobile app support.
Please, don't suggest KeePass, I can't go with it.
Comment section is open and I'm waiting for your valuable suggestions.
Thanks
So with move to subscription and no longer being able to store my vault in iCloud I am moving away from 1Password. Need some opinions on the couple of alternatives I’ve narrowed down.
Thoughts on

Thoughts?
I’m happy with Bitwarden with both desktop, browser, and mobile clients, but never heard of the two you mentioned. Always up to take a look. Thanks for the post.
I would look into how their security model works to make sure that they have minimized attack surfaces before using them. 1password publishes their model here:

If this kind of evaluation is out of your scope (most of it is definitely out of mine), then try searching if that particular pass manager has been hacked / breached or not. You probably won't get any results for managers that haven't been on the market and I would probably avoid those ones until they have been established for a period of time.
For example, a 1password competitor, lastpass, has had many hacks in the past. There are also popular open source managers too that I'd look into such as Bitwarden.
Security is extremely hard to get right. You want a product that has been built and vetted by people who understand this stuff deeply. Look into who built the manager you want to use and their background to also decide if they have the appropriate experience to build a secure product.
Just because a password manager adopts some open standard for storing passwords doesn't mean it's secure. The implementation of that standard could be wrong and you wouldn't know until it's too late.
Basically don't gamble the keys to your house on a poor / unvetted security product.
Would anyone like to recommend an alternative to 1Password that is NOT:
-
subscription based
-
cloud based
I would like it to integrate with Firefox.
Thank you.
Hi there. I've been using both 1Password and Dashlane trials for the past week - I am unsure on what to choose.
I have Dashlane Premium at about 80PLN per year, which is 20 USD. Comes out cheaper due to regional pricing. 1Password, as far as I'm aware, does not offer such pricing (or at least not in Poland). That means 1Password costs 44 USD!
I am unsure on which I should choose:
1Password: has the Secret Key (feels more secure), nicer UI, the option to add more types of items (although not sure if they'll prove useful), Travel Mode (however, an option I doubt I'll use often, if at all. Not something I'd spend extra money on.), and a feature I might love although it's so minor, "show in Large Type"
Dashlane: an included VPN (very quick, tbh better than other VPNs I've used, not been audited before which may be a concern), dark web monitoring allows for 5 emails (which actually did find some breaches not available in haveibeenpwned.com), is cheaper
Is the difference in features in 1Password worth paying over twice the amount I'm paying? Should I wait for some time to see if 1Password decreases their price and use their switch credit program? Or, is Dashlane good enough feature-wise that I shouldn't consider the switch? Thanks in advance.
The Lastpass incident woke me up and really made me think about what I was doing and why I was entrusting my passwords to others.
Now I have come to the decision to switch to a self-hosted password manager.
I am currently a little afraid that my current one might be hit at some point.
I currently use 1Password and would like to switch to the self-hosted version of Bitwarden.
What do you think, is it worth it and do I have to worry about security?
I know a lot about securing Linux servers, so I think I'm relatively safe, but what do you think?
Where should I host, can you recommend a secure hoster that is also trustworthy?
I am currently thinking about using Hetzner, Ionos or AWS.
If possible the hoster should be located in Germany.
