I myself just switched over from LastPass and I'm a little disappointed that some features like a password generator isn't an option on the app. And it also lacks the auto fill on some apps not giving me the option like Reddit app. I know someone who has an iPhone and they have a different experience and works better. I'm going to try using my iPad and see if I can get the same experience. I'm curious if this just some features available on iOS instead of Android. I'm so hoping they will fix the issue. Is there an easy way to quickly generate a password in the 1password app?
I'm a recent transplant from LastPass and one thing that I liked about their app was it was very easy to quickly generate a password by going to the Security tab and clicking Generate password.
In 1password, the way I'm doing it is to click the plus icon in the top right corner, then click login, then click the password box, then create new password.
Is there a quicker/better way, or is this how to do it?

Agreed a password generator is needed from the app. The idea of creating a new login entry in order to quickly create a password, is cumbersome.

There was on 1password 7 and used it regularly there, unfortunately they removed it on 1password 8 desktop app. Asked support where it was when I updated, then told to use the one on the web browser plugin/extension. Wishing they bring the feature back on the app, instead of creating an entry or web extension, which feels more like a work around than a feature.

This is very infuriating if I'm being honest. PW managers are used not only on browsers but also on apps. So why on God's green earth is 1Password missing a simple password generator on the app?
This is a thread from back in 2018. FOUR YEARS AGO, the feature is STILL MISSING.
To change password on apps now the user story is to do the following:
Login to app
Get prompted by app to change PW
Change app to 1Password
Create new login
Press gearbox
Copy the damn password
Go back to the app
Paste it
Open 1password, AGAIN.
Update the password.
Guys, what the F?

I don't know why you do things so complicated. Here's how I'd do it. Open random app (Facebook for example) Get prompted to change password. Open 1pass edit Facebook login Select new password and save login Copy password Go back to Facebook and insert new password

The password generator used to have a right click option on the 1Password notification tray icon. This was useful as an IT admin having to constantly generate passwords fast. I am not sure why it got removed from this right click one and I can't seem to find it in a quick manner inside the app itself either - only the web page https://1password.com/landing/password-generator/

Please make the password generator standalone as opposed to having it accessible only by making a new entry. All other password managers have it. In 1password, we have to do a lot of clicks to get to the password generator. That being said, I am on the 14 day trial and am loving the password manager so far. The only thing I don’t like is the amount of clicks needed to get to the generator. Besides that, awesome experience and will be making the purchase after the trial ends.
Edit: Yes I am aware of the browser extension but let’s talk about the ios and the android app.

I don't know if it helps, but if you're using the chrome extension, you can click on the hamburger menu (between the seach input and the 'New Item' button) and then 'Password Generator'.

Yes. This. So much this. Opening Chrome to do this seems like an unnecessary inconvenience. Wonder what the reason is that it's in the browser extension only.
