r/1Password on Reddit: after mac restored from time machine: 1Password has detected an error with your local app database, please contact [email protected].
June 25, 2023 -

Subject line says it all.

My mac (Ventura 13.4.1 both before and after restoration) had some hardware replaced and I subsequently had to restore a 5 day old backup from Time Machine.

I'm getting the above error consistently with the mac app, version 8.10.7, and intermittently with the Chrome browser extension version 2.10.0. (I actually can't tell if the errror popup is being generated by the browser extension or if it's just the app constantly re-checking for the database and then erroring out.)

I read in the 1P forums that the solution involves renaming your database but I'm hesitant to touch anything. I haven't received any reply (even an auto-response) from the support address.

I am able to login to 1Password.com with no issues and can see my vault contents.

(As a side question, I wonder if there is a best practice to exclude 1Password data from Time Machine backups. I'd be curious to know if this is something I should be doing.)
