Help finding this dresser + chest set (photo included) or similar options
Bedroom Furniture---matching set or mismatched pieces? - General Education Discussion Board - The Well-Trained Mind Community
What’s everyone’s thoughts on “nightstands and dresser should be cousins, not siblings.”?
Cherry 8-drawer double dresser with butternut drawer interiors
8-drawer chest in Vermont black cherry. Finished with botanical polymerized tung oil. 60” long, 20” deep, 31-1/2” tall.
My objective was to replicate the “8 drawer side chest” that the Thomas Moser company in Maine has built and sold for decades. I used some architectural drawings in the Moser books “Measured Shop Drawings for American Furniture” and “How to Build Shaker Furniture” for guidance.
Construction details:
-
The case sides are through dovetailed to the top and extend down to the floor. In the center is a full width vertical divider that attaches to the underside of the top with a tapered sliding dovetail joint, and its bottom edge also extends down to the floor.
-
Full-length drawer dividers in the front and rear hold the case together horizontally. The dividers are dovetailed into the case sides and notched into the vertical center divider in a cross-lap joint. There is no solid “floor” for the case, but the bottom drawer webbing is grooved for floating dust panels.
-
The moulding is glued to the front and attached to the case sides with sliding dovetail keys to accommodate wood movement.
-
Secondary woods include: butternut for the drawer sides and backs; yellow poplar for the drawer bottoms, rear horizontal drawer dividers, and center vertical divider; maple for the drawer runners; Eastern white pine for the dust panels.

Can you use a sideboard as a dresser?
Why is it called a dresser?
Hey everyone,
I’m hoping someone here can help me out!
I broke my dresser and want to replace it—along with the matching chest from this bedroom set (photo attached). The bed frame is still in perfect condition, so I’d love to keep everything cohesive.
The set has a brushed champagne/gold tone with mirror accents and a tufted headboard. I believe it may be from Acme Furniture or something similar, but I haven’t had any luck finding the exact dresser and chest available anywhere.
If you recognize the set and know where I can find the dresser and chest (new or gently used), I’d really appreciate it!
Also—if you have suggestions for other dressers and chests that would match this bed frame well, I’m open to alternatives too.
Thanks so much in advance!
In other words, your two nightstands should be in the same style family as your dresser but not a full on matching set.
