People seem to be making some assumptions here. Let's get this clear: You have three parts: 1) a keyboard, 2) a monitor, 3) a box which is the main part of the terminal? And this connector you are showing is on a cable coming out of the monitor, which presumably is to be connected to the terminal main unit? And then the terminal is connected to an IBM mainframe via a twinax cable, correct? The connector is a DB-25, but that is a generic connector used for a thousand different, incompatible, purposes. These include RS232 serial ports and PC-style parallel printer ports, but there are any number of other possible uses. More on reddit.com

The 25-pin SCSI standard is just male-male 25-pins straight-through. Shielding is helpful for longer runs, but 3-6 feet is probably ok with unshielded as well. Note that cables sold specifically as parallel printer cables may not actually have all 25 pins wired through. More on reddit.com

That proprietary interface is for an IBM 3197 terminal's monitor. It is how the monitor communicates and even provides power to the "logic element". See https://bitsavers.org/pdf/ibm/3197/GA18-2546-1_3197_Model_D_Display_Station_Setup_Instructions_198704.pdf . People need to stop inferring interfaces based on a connector's shape, gender, and pin count. It appears to be a female DB25. Period. You don't know anything about the signaling. We here don't even know anything about it electrically!
