Please try getting longer rails at least 11 1/2 inches long. It might solve the problem with the drawers only pulling out half way. I have dressers instead of nightstands but the difference is half that That room is awful I wouldn't aspire to anything there. The rug looks very cheap and out of style with everything and the cool whites in that and the dresser clashes with the walls and curtains More on reddit.com

You're going to have to simply shop at local furniture retailers, ones that deal in quality hardwood furniture not Raymour & Flannigan or the like. That being said, it might push over the $150 mark.

I made my first drawer on a shop cart for the first time last week using scrap plywood and side bearing rails. It wasn't pretty but was good practice. Learned some things like: "The quarter-quarter-quarter method" (or half-half-half) to making strong joints on a drawer box with a table saw and dado blade. Using a line to align the center of the rail on the inside of the cabinet made it easy to attach the rail. Could see the line through the holes and just screw it in. Using credit cards or small stacks of playing cards to align the drawer faces and attach to drawer box. Can work from bottom up attaching the first face, place spacer cards on top, and place next face panel on top of the spacers. To attach the face, can use the holes for the handles to secure to the box temporarily, then pull out the drawer and secure it from the inside. Removed the front screws afterwards. I messed up the measurement for the width of the drawer box as it fits into the cabinet - it was about 1/8" too tight to fit the drawer in between the rails. To fix, I routed a strip out of one of the sides of the drawer box to inset the rail. I thought that maybe if the opposite ever happened, where the drawer was too loose, some shims could be used on the rails to make them wider. Give it a try! More on reddit.com
