My buddy wants me to change out a 3in cooper sewage main. Its about a 30 feet run and has two toilets three sinks and a shower so it going to be filled with shit right. Will the scrapeyard still accept it and us it worth it?

I've never turned in scrap like that, so I don't have any idea if scrap yards will accept it. But to help yourself out both to do this job without getting covered in literal shit and get more money at the scrap yard, I'd run the various sinks, shower, and toilets for about 10 minutes to flush the lines as much as possible. As long as there aren't big "chunks" or thick layers of buildup, they'll probably take it as #2 (pun not intended, but is delightful nonetheless).

Take it and leave it outside for a while till it drys out. Smack it with a hammer till all the flakes fall out. Scrap yards will take anything. Might just give you a “shittier” price.

I had some plumbers come through to a house I just bought, for context this is San Diego area. I know that the sewer line is going to be a problem as part of it is coming out of our yard. It’s cast iron, but he also said he recommends replacing all of the copper pipes. What do you guys think?

I had my entire house redone (all new copper) for 6.5k. 2400 sq ft house. Separately, we had our sewer line replaced from the house to the road, and our house is far back. That was 10k. 32 is just about double that—seems really high to me.

This price is insane for that size house. Fly someone in from NM and put them up in a hotel for the duration. Good for those local contractors if they can get that.
