More context: I have a narrow strip near a an area I just cleared for vegetable gardening and I want to plant a shrub there that's taller than it is wide with or without pruning. Since its next to a vegetable zone, it might get some water on it (or at least on the roots) during summer. Ideally the plant would be evergreen and flower. I already know of a few plants that somewhat fit this description, but curious to hear what else is out there. Extra points for a plant that's normally dormant without summer water. Area is Los Angeles.

I was going to get lacecap hydrangea but learned it needs partial sun. I have a south facing flowerbed under a window that I need to plant something in. It is 5ft deep and 11ft long.
