Looking at the Uplift 4 leg commercial desk for a home office/home recording desk - I'd like it to be deeper than the 72x30 option they offer. (gives me more room to keep a MIDI keyboard+QWERTY keyboard/mouse+laptop without needing a keyboard drawer - either MIDI or QWERTY)
Not having any luck finding a comparably thin (bamboo or laminate-style) tabletop at 72x36.
I could get a 1.5" thick butcher block countertop and give it a few coats of polyurethane, but the weight I find on those is ~160 pounds. Should be feasible with the weight limits Uplift lists but I'd prefer something a bit less hefty.

It's pretty difficult finding appropriate sizes beyond 30" depth. Doesn't the uplift 4 leg lift like 500 lbs? I don't think weight of a butcher block would be much trouble. Lorell sells a 71.6x47.3x1x1 laminate/MDF conference table top, but it's only available in Mahogany it appears (not sure of your style preference), and doesn't officially list a weight. Office Depot sells it for $198.99 . Lorell's 72x24 laminates appear to weight about 46 lbs, so I would guess this would be about 90-92 lbs. Up to you if 48" would be stable enough from a tip perspective. You could always cut it down and leave the cut on the back-side as well (if against a wall anyway).

A quick Amazon search shows that there's this desk being sold and it's 71"x36" . They also sell the standalone top , but I have no clue on the quality since I'm not familiar with this brand. In any case where you put a table top on a desk it didn't come with, you're either going to want to use a drill or self-drilling screws (NOT self-tapping), otherwise you risk cracking or splitting the tabletop. 72"x36" is a standard butcher block size. It's not difficult to finish the wood; the issue is that you need proper ventilation you're unlikely to get in an apartment. If you have someone willing to lend you their backyard, you could do it in a day. If you don't care about changing the color, it's just covering the wood with sealant and sanding in between coats. It's even easier if you buy the spray kind. Another suggestion that will make every woodworker in the world want to murder me...vinyl wrap the wood. You'll need some rubbing alcohol and a heat gun but this can be done indoors. Type "vinyl wrap desk" into Youtube and you'll find plenty of guides. You could just buy a table from somewhere like IKEA and toss the legs that come with it. The VOXLÖV and the DANDERYD meet your desired size pretty closely at 70 7/8"x35 3/8". As long as it's some form of wood (so you can drill holes for the standing desk frame), just check the assembly instructions to confirm the table top is separate. More on reddit.com

Pretty much the title. I bought an E7Plus standing desk frame from flexispot and it arrived a couple of days ago. I've been looking forever for a top that is 72 x 30 in real wood, or something solid would do the trick at this point.
All desks I am looking at are 24/25/26 inches in depth, which is too shallow for me, or either 39", which is too deep (and I don't have anything to cut it back to 30")
Ikea desks have honeycomb pattern inside, and I don't want that...
Home Depot, Rona, Wayfair, global industrial, uplift, Uline, Amazon... Everything is either wrong size, too pricey, or 200$ shipping.
I don't know where to look anymore, any tips for good deals lately in that dimension ?

Been having the exact same problem all week over here (Quebec). I finally gave up on regular stores and I looked on marketplace and found 2 listings about custom tabletops/butcherblocks in my area and messaged them. First one quoted me 450 for a 70" by 30" slab that I'd have to glue myself (fuck that). 2nd quoted me around 500 for 1" 5/8 thickness but only around 250$ for a 1" Cherry wood slab. Paired with a set of 250$ VIVO legs from amazon and I should end up with a 2000$ desk for around 600 with taxes. 1" should be plenty considering the legs have a crossbeam. So definitely ask around your local woodworking shops but make sure they're reputable and know what they're doing. Also don't hesitate to ask for the cheapest option/wood essence, and the thickness makes a huge huge huge difference in price as you can see.
