36" undermount sink in 36" cabinet?
So, I talked to my cabinet coach about this today. He said that it really isn't an issue as you can just put the sink flange over the sides of the cabinet walls and lay the stone over it. He said we'd just size the cabinet up enough (I believe 1 1/2") enough for the walls of the sink to fit between the carcass walls and then (if needed) I can put plywood furring strips on the inside walls of the carcass if the flange doesn't span the carcass walls). My biggest concerns of this approach are: gluing/sealing this to the stone in a watertight way, since we'd be essentially just dropping the stone on top instead of pressing it up from below to mounted stone replacing the sink if it is ever needed. Changed my sink to Ruvati in January 2022. By September 2024 the drain/basket developed hole from a bad weld job. Reaching out to Ruvati, the drain is considered an accessory and is not under the warranty. So keep that in mind when selecting a sink company More on reddit.com

The interior dims of a 36" cabinet is 34.5", so putting a 33" sink only allows 3/4" on each side to get the clips/hardware in there. Prob can't go any bigger than that. I'm doing my kitchen right now and went with the Kraus workstation undermount sink. More on reddit.com

I'm planning out my cabinetry and looking at going to a 36" under-mount sink. The left of the sink will be getting a trash pull-out. The right side is the dishwasher. I've heard some say this can be done in a 36" cabinet by cutting down the side walls and pre-mounting the sink to the countertop. I'm also planning on using Conestoga RTA cabs, so I can size up as needed, but I want to go with the minimum size cabinet possible to gain room in the cabinet to the left of the trash pull-out. Thoughts?

A 36" undermount sink in a 36" cabinet is doable, but it’s tight. You’ll likely need to trim the side walls and pre-mount the sink to the countertop, as you mentioned. If you want to keep it simple and avoid modifications, consider sizing up to a 39" cabinet for more clearance and easier installation.

Get a 33” sink for a 36” cabinet. You will still need to premount the sink (farmhouse?) but it will be more visually pleasing to have the sink outlined.

Making progress on our reno and I can’t figure out if sink brand matters much. I obviously don’t want a cheap, flexible, noisy sink, but I’ve been looking at Kraus, Ruvati, and Kohler, and they all seem very similar. I already know I want rounded corners for ease of cleaning, and the workstation style so I can put a roll-up drainer or a colander on the lip, but beyond that, I have no idea. Any thoughts? TIA!
