Hi @divyendusingh · It's an LCD panel issue. · Most likely there is internal damage in the panel that you can't see. · It happens a lot with panels that are cracked as shown in your image. · You can't fix them, they have to be replaced. · Use the manual to view the procedure to remove the display panel and then once it is out, check on the back of the panel for the part number of the panel. · Search online for the part number, to find suppliers that suit you best. That way you'll be sure that you're getting the correct panel for the model. Answer from jayeff on ifixit.com

Dell Latitude 5420: No charge, no boot; amber LED for as long as the power button is held. - Badcaps
I could not take a dump of the 16MB one because I lost the chip, lol. (Had to buy another one). But at least the 8MB one was completely different to what I expected. After reflashing and resoldering this the Amber light was gone and the laptop was trying to boot with a solid white light! I will let you know if the laptop worked after I assembly it together again. But you should definitely try it! Which bios file did you use? ... This specification for the DELL Latitude 5420 ... More on badcaps.net

I apologize if these are stupid questions, but here goes: Is it possible you pinched or damaged one of the wires coming from the battery connections on the motherboard when you reassembled the case? Or, it's just a bad battery. More on reddit.com

Diagnostic LED - Dell Latitude 5420 Rugged Service Manual
A specific blink pattern is followed by flashing a pattern of flashes in green, followed by white. The pattern then repeats. NOTE The diagnostic pattern will consist of a two digit number being represented by a first group of LED blinks (1 through 9) in green, followed by a 1.5 second pause with the LED off, and then a second group of LED blinks (1 through 9) in white.

I have a Dell Lattitude computer that flashes amber 3 times then will not boot. Suggestions? If by hard reset you mean
October 29, 2024 - Three amber flashes on a Dell Latitude typically signal a memory (RAM) error. Begin by performing a hard reset: disconnect power, remove the battery if possible, then hold the power button for 15 seconds.

The blinking pattern you’re observing on your Dell Inspiron 3558 (4 times amber followed by 1 time white) indicates a Battery Issue. Since your laptop is an older model, it’s possible that the battery has reached the end of its lifespan. Battery Replacement: You’ll need to replace the battery. You can find compatible replacement batteries for your Dell Inspiron 3558. Here’s a link to a replacement battery that you can consider. Battery Report Check: Create a battery report to check the status of your current battery. Open a Command Prompt window (search for 'cmd' in the Start menu). Type the following command and press Enter: powercfg /batteryreport This will generate a battery report. Locate the report file (usually saved in your user folder) and open it. Compare the Design Capacity value with the Full Charge Capacity value. For a healthy battery, these values should be nearly the same. Temporary fix/Workaround: Hard Reset Turn off the laptop. Disconnect  the AC adapter and remove the battery or simply remove the base cover and disconnect the battery cable. Disconnect all devices such as USB drives, printers, webcams, and media cards (SD/xD). Press and hold the power button for 15 to 20 seconds to drain the residual power. Connect the AC adapter and battery. Turn on the computer. If you still need assistance, please contact support by clicking the ‘Get Help Now’ button located at the bottom right corner of the page. Your Dell laptop is showing a diagnostic blink code: 3 amber flashes followed by 5 white flashes, repeating in a loop. This code means the system failed to complete its startup self-check (POST). Depending on your model, the most common causes are: Memory (RAM) not detected or seated improperly - most common cause CMOS battery / Real-Time Clock (RTC) power loss Corrupted BIOS firmware Power rail or motherboard fault - less common The good news: most users can fix this at home in under 30 minutes. Follow the steps in order and stop as soon as your laptop boots. Before You Open the Laptop Work on a hard, non-static surface Touch metal first to discharge static Have a small Phillips screwdriver ready Refer to your model's service manual at dell.com/support 1. Hard Reset  Clears residual power — fixes many cases instantly. Unplug adapter, remove battery (if removable) Hold power button for 30 seconds Reconnect power and try booting 2. Reseat the RAM - Most Common Fix  Unscrew the memory access panel on the bottom Push the side clips outward — RAM stick pops up Firmly press it back in until clips snap Two sticks? Test each one alone to find a bad module 3. Reset CMOS  Unplug everything (adapter, USBs, peripherals) Hold power button for 60 seconds Plug in and retry 4. BIOS Recovery  For corrupted firmware. Unplug the adapter Hold CTRL + Esc, then plug adapter back in Keep holding until the recovery screen appears → select Recover BIOS 5. Run Built-In Diagnostics  Power on → tap F12 repeatedly → select Diagnostics Next Steps If the issue persists after these steps, it may indicate a motherboard failure or a deeper power subsystem fault. We recommend contacting our support team for further assistance. You can use the Get Help Now chat feature located at the bottom right corner of this page. Or, you may reach out to a trusted technician for a hands-on diagnosis. Please see this video for general No Post Troubleshooting.

It is true that it's not documented, but historical posts have shown it to be a fault on one of the power rails on the system board - the only real solution is to replace the board.
