I’m googling viburnums, but there are so many varieties to sift through I am hoping to learn from the experts here. My spot gets 6 hrs of sun and is somewhat narrow. 5h x 5w is workable. And it doesn’t have to be a viburnum, but ideally offering flowers or berries for the wildlife. If I can’t find a viburnum, a holly will likely be the next search.

August 29, 2025 - It takes about 3-5 cubic yards of organic material per 1,000 square feet to improve clay soil. Thoroughly mix the organic material into clay soil, to a depth of 8 to 10 inches. If planting soils are too sandy, improve water-holding capacity by similarly adding organic amendments. Organic mulch is recommended over the entire area after planting. Most evergreen shrubs growing in Colorado landscapes, whether recently transplanted or well-established, benefit from supplemental water during winter dry spells.
