I am doing a bathroom remodel and I can’t decide which is a better choice for vanity size. I really like a sink and vanity at IKEA, which comes in 40” or 48”.
Here are pictures of the current vanity: https://imgur.com/gallery/hftXqPz The sink and overhang extend 48” but the cabinets only extend 46.5”.
I think the standard reaction is to replace it with the 48” vanity, but I worry about leaving too small of a space between the cabinet and the toilet, where the TP and garbage can are kept. In addition, I’m also concerned about being able to get if flush against the wall with the Ikea sink (something I should probably check with my contractor). I don’t want a small crack that bugs may crawl into (possibility an irrational fear).
On the other hand, there is a 40” vanity in the same style. This would allow a small gap between the wall and vanity and ample room between the toilet and vanity to keep the TP and garbage. But would a smaller vanity with a gap between the wall look weird? I’m having a hard time imagining it.
These are the Ikea cabinets I want: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/godmorgon-sink-cabinet-with-4-drawers-black-brown-40344128/ https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/godmorgon-sink-cabinet-with-2-drawers-black-brown-90344102/ And the sinks: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/odensvik-sink-60193944/ https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/odensvik-sink-40193940/
Any thoughts or opinions please?
I want to replace 40 inch bathroom vanity. I am seeing my choices in 39/40 vanities are small and comparatively expensive. The width between the 2 walls is about 40 inches. Any recommendation.
