I want to replace 40 inch bathroom vanity. I am seeing my choices in 39/40 vanities are small and comparatively expensive. The width between the 2 walls is about 40 inches. Any recommendation.
Our bathroom has a 39 in space between the outside wall, and the dividing wall that separates the shower insert. That 39 in gap is where the current vanity sits.
We want to replace that vanity. The previous owners appear to have bought a 36 in vanity, topped it with a 39 in length of the exact same material as the kitchen counter tops, and put little spacer board between the vanity and the wall to fill that 1.5in gap on either side.
Ok great. Our ideal solution would be to buy a vanity with countertop that is 39 inches wide and fits the gap perfectly, but nobody makes em. 36 and 40 are the closest standard sizes.
So plan b is to do exactly what they did just with materials we like better. An “off the shelf” 36in vanity with a custom 39in counter top.
Here is the problem. We don’t want laminate particleboard, we want a proper solid surface top of quartz to some other stone or simulated stone material. And I’m being told by the folks at Menards you can’t put a 39in quartz or solid surface counter top on a 36in vanity, cause the wood mounting structure under the 39in counter won’t match up to the 36in vanity.
I’m pretty flummoxed. What would you all do in a situation like this?
End goal is to have a solid surface quartz or stone imitation counter top and vanity in that 39in space without tiny little gaps of empty space down both sides that will eat toothbrushes and rings and all kinds of stuff no doubt.
