Reclaiming “41”: a number associated with Mexico’s dark past against the LGBT community - Philadelphia Gay News
October 13, 2021 - To avoid a political uproar and save face, the story goes that Díaz had his son-in-law taken out of jail and his arrest hidden. The remaining 41 men were not so lucky, and newspapers referred to them as the “41 maricones,” the Spanish equivalent of “faggot.” Those wearing dresses were forced to sweep the streets, unprotected from an angry homophobic public, and many of the men were sent to work camps in the Yucatan supporting Mexican solders fighting the Mayans.

r/Spanish on Reddit: Year and number shorthand pronounciation in Spanish?
August 15, 2017 -
I mostly understand how to read / assemble numbers in Spanish. 1984, for example, would be mil novecientos ochenta y cuatro.
But when I say this number out loud in English, I would never say "one thousand nine hundred eighty four" even though it would be perfectly correct for me to do so. Instead I say "Nineteen eighty four" or maybe even "Nineteen hundred eighty four."
Does this kind of shorthand/slang pronunciation exist in Spanish? If I said diecinueve ochenta y cuatro would people look at me funny?

You can say "El ochenta y cuatro" and people will understand you're talking about the year 1984 if there's enough context. You could say something like "Yo nací en el 84" and people will know you are born in 1984. We use that sort of shorthand for all the years from 1930 to 1999. Before that it sounds weird... At least to me. For other centuries we say the whole number. Columbus reached the Americas in 1492 = Colón llegó a América en mil cuatrocientos noventa y dos. Es el año dos mil diecisiete = It's 2017.

No, that's not possible. But you can say "the 70s, the 80s, etc" (los 70, los 80, etc).
