November 4, 2025 - Weekends are lively around Hôtel-de-Ville events; step to the fringe to check your route. Strike days can swell platforms; keep a plan B on foot or rideshare. That’s the simple core of 4th arrondissement paris safety: match your route to light and people, and keep valuables tucked away.

Picking an arrondissement is so hard!
Paris is quite compact and anywhere in the 1-6 arrondissements will be hyper central and close to one another. That being said, I’d lean towards the 6th over the 1st/2nd given your criteria, because of proximity to Luxembourg Garden, which I prefer to Tuileries and other parks in the 1st/2nd. That being said the 1st/2nd has slightly better access to the main tourist attractions, and metro line 1 gets you to a lot of the places you’ll wanna see also. I’d also consider the 4th, but I’m biased because I live here. More on reddit.com

Definitely avoid the 1-8 arrondissements, and 16. Many scams and you’re likely to be pickpocketed. Look at the Eiffel Tower from somewhere safer, like the 19th.

Top 4 SAFEST areas to stay in PARIS [+ 3 districts to avoid]
August 24, 2018 - The streets remain well-lit and lively even after sundown, reinforcing the area’s reputation for safety. In the midst of this bustling district, tranquil havens like the Jardin Anne-Frank and the garden of the Hôtel de Sens offer peaceful retreats. These beautifully maintained green spaces provide a safe, serene environment for relaxation, a great place to feel in a village more than in a city. My suggested hotels in the 4th Arrondissement – Le Marais

February 2, 2026 - 4th Arrondissement (Notre-Dame & Île Saint-Louis) – Historic, scenic, and generally calm in the evening with lovely river views. 5th Arrondissement (Latin Quarter) – Lively but comfortable, full of cafés, bookshops, and students. Good for travelers who like atmosphere yet want central safety. 6th Arrondissement (Saint-Germain-des-Prés) – One of the most popular and “classic Paris” neighborhoods.

August 18, 2025 - Although this is becoming increasingly packed with tourists over the years, there’s no denying that Le Marais remains as one of the nicest neighborhoods in all of Paris – adorned with quiet side streets, one-of-a-kind boutiques, and home to both the Jewish Quarter and Places des Voges. Le Marais is also home to the famous Rue de Rosiers for shopping and L’as du Falafel, which I can confirm – is one of the best falafels I have ever eaten in my life, and I’ve been to Israel. ...
