I've been looking for small ways to boost my overall score & jumped into the CC world. I keep seeing that the scoring methods (FICO 8, Vantage 3) consider over 50k to be an excellent amount of credit available to have. I find this amount to be crazy seeing as my credit limit on my two cards is about 25k, but I'm wondering if it's common to have that much available & how you got there?
Does anyone actually have that much available? Do you have it through a few high-limit cards? Or several smaller lower limit cards? Or a mix?
Edit: context
I have a handful of cards totalling around 50k in limit. But I'd like to just have one. Fico is 800 and income is 215k. No credit card debt. Thanks
Why do you need one with a 50k limit?
Why do you want only one?
What is your goal here exactly?
I have a handful of cards totalling around 50k
How often are you requesting CLIs?
With only $50k total, it's unlikely you'll get a $50k starting CL on any card but check r/CreditCards.

I have a 30k limit already on my AMEX preferred. Had the card for 10 years and spend quite a bit on it every year. Credit score is 820. Is it worth asking for a credit limit increase? Maybe 40k if 50k isn't feasible? I don't think I'd ever come close to spending that much, but it would be a nice to have I guess.
I know there are charge cards where you technically don't have an explicitly listed limit, but there is an internal limit that depends on your relationship with the issuer. However, besides that, does anyone have a proper credit card with a limit above $100k? How did you get it so high?
EDIT: I am talking about the limit on one card only.
Hi, I understand that credit limit depends heavily on country and even city, for example US is expected to have the highest limit. But I am curious what is your limit relative to the average income of your area?
Me first, please follow. I have credit limit of 25k US dollar across 3 cards at a city with $1k average income, my take home pay is about $30k, $1k monthly expense. Wonder if my credit limit is too high (but I think higher is better as long as I can maintain my spending and card security)

What card is the best for points value on either cash back or travel considering the large $50K spend? Looking for the best value regardless of the benefits being cash back, travel, etc
ive got two credit cards, one with 5k limit, another with 14k limit. no way in the world would i ever use anywhere close to that much. i guess many people do? i don't like carrying over a 1k balance.
just curious if others use that much credit...and carry big balances.
Hello credit fam, reading through this Reddit is a guilty pastime of mine.. As I see discussions about credit limits I’m sometimes shocked that ppl consider 10k limits upon opening cards high. What’s a “shockingly” high limit right off the bat? Has anyone gotten a 50k+ limit upon opening and if so what’s your credit history/story? My highest limit upon opening was 25k a few years ago and I felt lame! Lol Do I have misguided expectations?
I've been on the hunt for a 0% Intro APR Credit Card with the highest limit possible, ideally ~$50k or more. I'm not concerned about good rewards or low annual fees, though the more benefits and lower fees the better. The draw of such a card is the flexibility it would provide in managing finances for some ongoing and upcoming personal and professional projects that will involve large transactions over the next year.
I consider myself a generally well qualified applicant:
-
Salaried annual income in the $250k - $500k tax bracket (general range for privacy)
-
FICO credit score: ~825 - 850 range
-
$750k - $1M secured debt in the form of mortgage(s)
-
Currently have the following credit options: - AMEX Platinum with no credit limit - Three Credit Union Credit Cards with combined limit in ~$35k - 45k range - HELOC with limit in the ~$115k - $150k range. - Oldest Account is 13 years, 9 months.
Most purchases are routed through the AMEX ($100k+ annually), some through the other cards, and all balances are paid off in full monthly.
I am open to all options, but the most important feature is the longest 0% Intro APR and highest limit possible. I do not have a registered business but am considering doing so this year, so I am open to business card options though do not prefer them.
Looking forward to feedback and discussion!
It seems like most credit cards max out at 30k credit limit. This is the case for Visa signature 30k, BIlt Mastercard 30k and my AAA credit card. Are there any credit cards with higher limits or do I have to go with an American express? (currently have none of their products)
I have a Wells Fargo Active Cash card for a little over two years and just got increased to a $6,000 credit limit which is the highest amount I have had on a single card. I have two credit cards currently (had three but they closed one account because I wasn't using it) and have had my CapitalOne Quicksilver card since July 2017 and have $5,100 credit limit. I have never missed a payment and always paid my card off every month. I feel like based on having credit cards for nearly 9 years and having a 809 credit score that my credit limit is very low for a single card. I make $65,000 a year and don't see how even with a perfect payment history I'm not in the range of $10,000 - $15,000 for a single card.
Curious what credit limit yall have on a single card and even details about your income, credit score, and payment history you want to share to compare with mine.
