so my 3 year old tv literally just fell off the wall mount and is completely busted. thankfully no one was hurt but now i’m scrambling to find a replacement. i’ve been thinking a 55 inch would be perfect for the living room but i have no idea where to even start looking.

55", I'd be looking at an OLED. That would be my BEST option. You didn't give a price point or type of room. Just Best option in 55" TV. For me, that is OLED. Would I consider 55" a Home Theater sized TV? In the past, sure, these days, it's on the smaller size. If you sit closer, then sure! I have a 50" Plasma in my Bedroom. I think it's the perfect size. So at some point it'll die, and I think a 55" OLED for a replacement would be perfect. I have a 75" 4K Samsung QLED in the family room. It's almost 5 years old, had to get the main board on it swapped out a month ago. Luckily it had a 5-year Warranty on it when I got it. It was one of the reasons I picked it. It paid off. I got it at Costco. I did pick up I think a 40" 1080P Sony Bravia for my Dads Bedroom who lives at my house. he had gotten a Best Buy brand ROKU TV a couple inches smaller that was not only 720P and the picture quality really sucked, but the speakers were so BAD!!! I returned that garbage and picked out the Sony as a replacement. Far, far better picture and the sound was a huge improvement. I didn't want to deal with a sound bad for a bedroom TV. It doesn't need it now.
