First off it's not right that the LEDs in the TCL don't even last 10 years, and then it's a nightmare experience that the replacement LEDs only lasted 2 years, so again I've got to take my TV apart and replace the backlight. Though this will be the second time so it'll be easier this time around cause I already know what I'm doing but still, why is it TCL is shipping TVs with LEDs that typically don't even last 5 years?

And why did the replacement LEDs only last 2 years? From what I understand all LEDs are manufactured over in China so if I tried a different brad for the replacement LEDs, I mean my point is, they're all made in China so I would think the quality is gonna be the same no matter what.

I mean, is there a brand you would recommend for replacement LEDs?

And also, today I will be calling TCL and I'll tell them my experience, shame on them for putting out TVs that are just gonna fail within 3 to 5 years! You'd think TCL would at least offer replacement LEDs from their website that would be guaranteed to last 10 years, but hey, if they did that, I mean if they've got LEDs that could last for 10 years THEN THEY SHOULD PUT THEM IN THEIR TVs!!!

You know my friend had a 47 inch Samsung flat panel TV (it was bigger than 42 inches as I remember, and I remember he said that at the time he paid good money for it so it wasn't a budget model) he bought it in like 2009 or 2010 and he only replaced it like 2 years ago, the backlight never failed in it, so the backlight in it lasted for like 13 or 14 years of use, and the backlight would've been LEDs of course.

I have another friend. He had a 32 inch LED TV he bought around 2010, it was some random brand that doesn't exist anymore, this guy is a cheapskate so he doesn't buy expensive things, so I'm pretty sure this was a budget TV, yeah this was not an expensive TV at the time when he bought it cause he cause he's not the type to splurge big bucks for a TV, he's the type to buy an inexpensive budget TV, he replaced this TV like 3 years ago back in December of 2022, so the LEDs in his TV lasted for over 10 years without failing!!! He only replaced it cause I convinced him to go buy a 65 inch TCL TV from walmart that only cost $300.00. And now I'm not even friends with the guy anymore, we quit hanging out a couple of years ago and he's probably cursing me cause of course the LEDs have probably already burned out on him.

So yeah they can certainly design TVs so that the LEDs can at least last 10 years, if not longer than that, but it seems you'll have to spend over a $1,000.00 for an upper end TV.

You can't spend $250.00 and expect the LEDs to last 10 years. But still LEDs are cheap these days. LEDs were expensive 20 years ago when they first came out but the technology has gotten better and much cheaper. Technology always gets better over time and cheaper.

Why does TCL put out TVs knowing the LEDs will break within 3 to 5 years?

Why can't I get replacement LEDs that will last at least 10 years? I mean they didn't even last 3 years, they only lasted 2 years for crying out loud!

You have to understand that I'll never buy another TCL ever again, or any budget TV for that matter. I'll just have to save up money and go buy a $1,500.00 Samsung TV where the LEDs will probably last well over a decade.

Samsung is making budget TVs to compete with TCL and Hisense, how lond do the LEDs last in a budget Samsung TV do you know?

This whole experience has been a nightmare for me.

hey everyone, i'm trying to find solid deals on tcl tvs at walmart for black friday or cyber monday. my current tv is about 10 years old and it's finally starting to give up, so i'm looking for something new.

i'm hoping to get a tcl that's reliable and durable enough to last me another long stretch, but i haven't seen any deals that really stand out yet. if anyone has spotted good discounts, bundles, or knows which models usually hold up the best, please share.

any tips or info would be really appreciated so i can grab something that's worth it and will last for years to come.
