Hey Reddit!
Iโm looking for advice on upgrading my TV and need some input. I currently have a 55-inch TV, and I sit about 11-12 feet away from the screen. My wife and I are debating the right size for our new TV. Hereโs the situation: โข I feel like a 75-inch would be a great upgrade and give us that immersive experience. โข My wife thinks 65 inches would be enough, but Iโm worried it might still feel too small at our viewing distance. โข I really want a 77-inch OLED because of the picture quality and larger size, but Iโm not sure if thatโs overkill for our space. โข Pictured credenza is where it will go. Itโs 80 inches in width.
I could mount the TV on the wall, which would give us about 13 feet of distance, but I donโt know if that changes the equation much.
So, my questions are: 1. Does anyone here use a 65-inch TV at 11-12 feet? How does it feel in terms of size? 2. For those with larger TVs (75-inch or 77-inch) at a similar distance, do you think the jump in size is worth it? 3. If you were in my shoes, what would you go for and why?
Appreciate any advice or feedback! I want to make the right choice since this will probably be our main TV for years. Thanks in advance!
I am mounting a TV above my fireplace and the seating in the room is about 10 feet from where the TV will be. I had up there before a 1080p set in 55 inches that died and I want to replace it with a 4K TV. I see that the new consensus is at least 65 inches these days for that distance. BUT, due to wall fixtures etc, a 65 inch TV will make the room look tiny - it would take up the entire wall space above the fireplace - up to the ceiling. So, is anyone living with a 55 inch 4K TV at this distance and enjoying it? Is it true you canโt tell 4K apart from 1080p at that distance? appreciate any guidance here.
