I’m thinking about buying my first Low Profile 59fifty and I had a few questions. I mostly buy the 39thirty, but the hat I want isn’t available in that style and I’d hate to shell out $40-$50 for a hat and not like it.
I measured my head and I’m right on the button for a size. Does this style of hat run true to size, or should I expect it to run a bit big or small and order up or down accordingly?
The bill is curved, but not as much as the bill of a 39thirty. Is it possible to permanently curve it a bit more?
A bit of internet/YouTube research told me that the Low Profile 59fifty and the 39thirty were similar when it comes to crown height and width of hat. Is this accurate?
Thanks in advance for the help.
EDIT: I live in the middle of nowhere. It would probably be cheaper to just reorder a hat if the first one doesn’t fit than to drive several hours to a store that sells New Era hats to try one on.
Hey guys,
trying to build up my collection and hoping you can help with ideas.
I can only rock the low profile, just because with the normal new era fitted the crown/front is too tall, it just looks like it expands my forehead too much. I just found topperzstore.com and wanna get so many retros from them. Ive noticed that I actually have 2 older 59Fifties (one wool), both are not low profile, and they dont seem as pronounced as the ones these days. They are 2 sizes smaller than I wear, 7 /14 as apposed to 7 1/2, not sure if that has to do with it or different style back then but they fit fine.
Does anybody know of a way to make a normal NewEra fitted look more low-profile? At least take away some of the prominence of the tall front? I have a good steamer, works great shaping the bill. I know the new ones are polyester, which doesnt shrink well, just trying to think of something before I drop 150 on topperzstore. Maybe topperz uses older NewEra because they're retro? I'd be pretty happy if they looked like these two older 1/4, which I didnt do anything to, and if they use newer stock, hoping I can find a way to take away some of that brow.
Thanks a bunch!
