I haven't bought or worn a hat in a long time. what's the difference and what's better?
I’m thinking about buying my first Low Profile 59fifty and I had a few questions. I mostly buy the 39thirty, but the hat I want isn’t available in that style and I’d hate to shell out $40-$50 for a hat and not like it.
I measured my head and I’m right on the button for a size. Does this style of hat run true to size, or should I expect it to run a bit big or small and order up or down accordingly?
The bill is curved, but not as much as the bill of a 39thirty. Is it possible to permanently curve it a bit more?
A bit of internet/YouTube research told me that the Low Profile 59fifty and the 39thirty were similar when it comes to crown height and width of hat. Is this accurate?

EDIT: I live in the middle of nowhere. It would probably be cheaper to just reorder a hat if the first one doesn’t fit than to drive several hours to a store that sells New Era hats to try one on.

I have several 59fifty caps fitted size 7¼ and they fit fine. But I don't like how bulky they look when I wear them bill forward. So I ordered a low profile 59fifty online. I ordered the same size 7¼ because that seems like common sense. When I put it on my head it was really small. It felt smaller than a 7. I tried going to sports stores to see if there were some I could try on so I could order again online, but none of them had low profile 59fiftys. Does anyone know what size low profile 59fifty is equivalent to a regular 59fifty 7¼?
I think by default you get the regular one but have to ask to be provided with the low profile ones at the start of the season if you want that one all the time.

I did a bunch of research on this when I was purchasing my first fitted cap. The regular was too poofy for my liking.

I'm looking for a new hat. I've been wearing a 9twenty for 4 years now, and I'm trying to change it up.
I have a rather large and bulbous head. My concern is that a straight up 59fifty might be too boxy, making my already large head look even larger. My gf said the 39thirty looked good, but I wasn't digging the elastic band. Also, I'm probably subconciously wanting a genuine hat the guys wear on the field. (Sure, I'm a 30 year old man, but who cares that I want the hat my heroes wear? "I'm wearing the same hat the Phils players wear!" Idgaf if that makes me sound like a child, lol.)
So, is the low profile essentially the 39thirty minus the elastic band? And for style, do you think the low profile will look better on an egghead than the og 59fifty? I wish I could try on a bended and broken in 59fifty, but I don't know anyone who has one. The guy at lids did let me bend one, but it'll take some time to actually get the shape on it.

Hey guys...found a site (www.minorleagues.com) that sells literally every low crown New Era hat, plus the regular style too.
Has anyone bought a low crown? Are they that much different than the regular 5950's? I have some regular ones and feel like they almost have that "Fred McGriff puffy hat from the Tom Emanski commercials" look to them.

I don't own one, but I've tried them on. They look like the old hats from the 40's and 50's and a very comfortable to wear but only if you like to bend the brim of your hat.
Does anybody wear the Low Profile 59fifty fitteds? Or do y’all rock the regular fits?
Hi I’m looking to get a 59 fifty low profile and was wondering what size I would be, I measured my head and it is around 60 cm above the ear what size should I go for. I don’t want the hat to fit like a top hat I want it to fit snug many thanks.
I wear my Large-XL 39Thirty a lot and am very pleased with it in terms of look and fit. With baseball starting up again I wanna get a new hat for the season, but the pickings are pretty slim for 39Thirties. Never been a big fan to the classic 59Fifty (not a flat brim guy), but the Low Pro version has piqued my interest.
Is the Low Pro version similar stylistically to the 39Thirty? If not, can someone point me in the direction of a hat that is?

I'm a guy that likes to have my baseball caps look like actual baseball caps, not a flatbilled fashion statement. Even after fixing the bill on a 59Fifty, the high crown makes it look like a cardboard box on my head. I have 3 of the on field hats and it took me about a year to break in each of them to get the crown down where I like it. New Era sells low crown hats, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them... do they look good out of the box, do they fit differently, do they still have a pretty high crown? Any information would be appreciated
So generally I’ll buy a new hat or two every few years and wear them out. It seems that low profile fit is a fairly new thing. How exactly does it fit differently? I’m having trouble finding a photo online of someone modeling both styles.
I usually buy a size (or two depending on fit) smaller on low profile hats. It feels pretty similar to a 5950 that you've already bent and shaped to your head. I usually don't bend my 5950s which is probably the only reason I buy them in a bigger size.
Low pro is how you go. It takes away that boxy square look of the high crowns and fits the head a lot better.
I was trying on hats today and noticed the low profile hat I bought (7 3/8) wasn’t the same fit as a regular. Regular was a bigger fit. What would be the size equivalent to that for a regular?
