I am wanting to know if $9,000 is too much for a bathroom remodel. My bathroom is not that big, 5ft by 7ft. I’m not looking to expand or anything too crazy.
Basically just want the tub replaced, toilet replaced, new vanity and new flooring. All in the same layout just new stuff, new paint and a ceiling vent. Last year I got quoted just a bit over $6,000 to EXPAND and renovate the bathroom. I am kicking myself for not moving foward with that one.
So has inflation and pricing on materials really caused the price to go up by that much? Judging off of the $6k quote in 2020 involving making the bathroom larger, I feel like I’m being ripped off by this contractor. I’ve scheduled 2 more to come give me a quote. $9k just seems too ridiculous for a 5x7 bathroom, no moving of plumbing or anything too crazy. the hardest part seems like it will be removing the old iron (I think it’s iron) tub. We also have more than enough flooring left over from doing our kitchen last year. I did the kitchen myself and it was really hard and took me a while so I have no real judgement of where the market and materials are at the moment, other than last years quote. Dang I wish I would’ve done it then. The estimate didn’t have any details other than “renovation and labor”
