Yes I am new here, I have not used a mechanical keyboard in my life. I am thinking of getting a ducky one 2 sf. My problem is that, like I haven't used a keyboard that doesn't include the f keys in my life, I do not know if they are useless for me or not, becuase sometimes I used them, yes, but most of the time only for adjusting the volume and brightness. So is their a way to acess the f keys in a keyboard using shortcuts in the ducky one 2 sf?

I have a 60% keyboard and I can use F row keys by holding the fn button. It's not a huge deal. That said, it's important to note that most of the time volume control isn't tied to an F-row button but is a separate function pre-programmed on those keyboards so just pressing F2 might not work.

I'm pretty new to the keyboard scene and have only really used TKL keyboards. I've been looking for a wireless mechanical keyboard, but most of them seem to only be in 65% or 60% variants.
I want to make the switch, but just a bit skeptical about losing the function keys. So what have your experiences been like? Do you miss anything about a TKL or full size keyboard?

I've been looking for a wireless mechanical keyboard, but most of them seem to only be in 65% or 60% variants. I've tried both the Drevo Calibur (TKL) and am currently using the Anne Pro 2 (60%). I think function keys are nice to have, but not completely necessary. The bigger thing going from TKL to 60% is whether you're OK letting go of the delete key and dedicated arrow keys. I'm open to any other questions you have.

I've been using 60/65 for ~2 years now and I don't miss function keys at all. I even switched to a TKL at work (software dev) for about a month and using function/arrow keys were way more inconvenient than just hitting FN + whatever. This is assuming you move FN to trigger when you hold down tab or caps though, I don't know how people use it on the bottom row on the regular.

I know that we just press the function and number key at the same time. However, what if I want to use it during gaming? For example if I press f4, will it close the game or just do what f4 does in the game? If it closes the window, how do I make it just a regular key that does what it does in the game? (I don't own a 65% keyboard and I'm thinking of getting one so idk) This post might be confusing so if you don't understand my question just ask :)

It Should just do what f4 does in game, but that gets annoying holding the function then hitting a number just to be able to do whatever that f# key does in game. 65%s are great if you are okay with a little extra work to use macros, and I personally change keybibds in games. So if I start a game and see that f1 is the key to do something in game I change it to something simpler like just 1 not f1. They’re alright for working/typing, they require some changes to be good for gaming that requires macros.
