JBL club, concert, or gto

You gotta watch it with JBL/Infinity speakers. They use lower resistance coils. OEM stereos do not usually handle 2 or 3 ohms. The result is the amp will output more power than it is possibly designed for. At least where heat is concerned. Also with more power output comes higher distortion level. So basically you end up with more distorted sound above half volume and electronics that are cooking even at moderate volumes. So figure out what impedance the factory speakers are or the final load at the factory amp. Then match that. Or ditch the factory amp. Run your own. Get something that will push those 609Cs fully without being driven to max rms output. More on reddit.com

Questions about JBLs

Hi there! I’m new here but I used to work a car audio shop for a long time. JBL is a VERY confusing lineup but take it from me because I have heard every single speaker from JBL. To break it down for you, here is a simple chart: D tier: Stage1, Stage2 and CS series. Personally I do not recommend this, they don’t sound good but at least they’re cheap C tier: Stage3 series These sound good if you have a budget in mind, perfectly acceptable for a beginner level speaker. B tier: GTO and Club SQ series. GTO speakers I can guarantee that you will love them, they are a bit pricey however if you do want to invest in the speakers, I would highly recommend them. Out all the sales I’ve done in my previous job, 80% of them always choose the GTO speakers for the price and sound quality. Now there is an “Club SQ” series which is significantly better than the GTO, for a person who has heard many speakers, I can tell that there is a minor difference between the two (for example, higher mids and softer treble) but they are very similar to GTO. If you’re not thinking of adding a subwoofer for your vehicle, I’d recommend the GTO as it provides a bit more on the mid bass compared to the Club SQ. A tier: Stadium series. Expensive but very good speakers. If you have the budget, I’d recommend these any day but be prepared for the cost 😂, these will also need an amplifier that can at least do 100 watts I think that’s all and I hope this helps you 😀 More on reddit.com

Recommendations for 6x9 car speakers?

Not replacing the stereo doesnt make it more difficult at all, but for whatever speaker you choose you have a very small amount of power to work with; 50w if beats probably around 20 without. So find speakers that are 50w RMS or less. RMS is the important number. Kicker, Kenwood, RF, Alpine, and Pioneer are good companies with decent entry level speakers. More on reddit.com
