7800X3D best BIOS settings | [H]ard|Forum
July 31, 2023 - It's a living room PC so I don't really care about any other performance being left on the table for productivity. I set my SoC voltages to 1.225 iirc after that CPU burn issue came up but I'm still on a way earlier BIOS. I'm pretty sure its AGESA 1.0.0.6 since that's what I had to flash to once I upgraded to the 7800X3D.

I just recently did an upgrade from Intel to AMD and this is my first time using an AMD CPU. I read a few reviews and articles on the Ryzen 7 7800x3d. I’m decently tech savvy however I stay away from OC and messing around in the BIOS. Now I guess I want to change that lol

I only game so I figured I might as well try to get some more performance out of my rig while not going too crazy and making it unstable but since I’m not familiar with this, I don’t want to make any changes without knowing what I’m doing and why.

What would be the best BIOS changes or any changes elsewhere ?

My pc build: (started with a prebuilt and swapped parts in/out so that’s why some cheap parts are still in it)

r/ASUS on Reddit: Simple BIOS settings for 7800X3D ?
May 17, 2023 -

Hi, I just setup recently my new PC with :

  • Asus ProArt X670E Creator WiFi

  • G.Skill Flare X5 DDR5 6000 CL32 EXPO

  • Ryzen 7 7800X3D

  • Noctua NH-D15

  • Asus Geforce RTX 4070 Dual

Everything is already up and running just fine with the latest drivers. I just installed the long awaited non beta BIOS version 1415 for this Asus motherboard, so since the most critical problems are most likely gone, I thought it was about time to start doing a little bit of tweaking.

Currently I have most of the BIOS settings set as default except mainly memory set to EXPO 1. Anything else I should change ? Or is there any simple guide about that ?

I use this PC for gaming and work (mostly mostly Xilinx/AMD FPGAs so software such as Vivado, which can use all cores).

From what I saw in the articles about the 7000X3D CPUs, manual overclocking doesn't really seem worth the time and effort, so I would like to have only some simple recommendations on settings. I plan on using PBO with normal voltages, but I wouldn't mind getting some extra performance if it's simple and almost free in terms of effort, power consumption and stability. I'm not anymore into spending 5 hours tweaking for 0.5% performance boost with the risk of adding instability.

I heard the AI OC was setting voltages pretty high, which I don't want this time, I actually care about power consumption much more that I used to, although maybe not up to the point of undervolting.

Also I didn't install AI Suite nor Armoury Crate or MyAsus. I heard Ryzen Master could be good for tweaking oc in Windows, but I am totally fine doing that in BIOS only, since I don't plan on fine tuning that much.

r/AMDHelp on Reddit: can someone demystify some of the 'suggested' 7800X3D Bios settings for me please?
January 2, 2024 -

Hello,

I am using the holidays to spec and build a new system, yay! Coming from a 9700K I think I have understood the BIOS settings my old ASUS z390 board could offer. Now, that I have a 7800X3D in my new SFF build, I am benching and tuning it to my hearts content. I am a happy tinkerer :)

What I am less happy about is the level of documentation of BIOS settings, both within the BIOS and on paper. I own a ASUS B650E-I board now and found it working quite well for my needs (except for my desired LLC settings, but that is another topic...). Sadly, the Mainboard manual does not explain BIOS settings much so I am at a loss on what settings exactly do. If you have resources that listing and explaining them in more detail, please kindly send a link. (NOTE: I could find a few while researching, but happy to receive opinions on some settings as well)

I could find some 'suggested' values from a YT video (well, it is for B650E-F, but close enough), but it does not go into depth as to what these settings are actually doing, wanting to understand why I would change them.

CPU Configuration

  • PSS Support: Default: Enabled / Suggested: Disabled - What is this setting doing?

  • NX Mode: Default: Enabled / Suggested: Enabled - OK, don't know exactly what it is doing, but leaving it on.

  • SVM Mode: Default: Enabled / Suggested: Disabled - OK, this is CPU virtualisation, not needed

AMD CBS

  • Global C-State Control: Default: Enabled / Suggested: Disabled - Found video explaining this using suggested setting - Keeping enabled

  • IOMMU: Default: Enabled / Suggested: Disabled - Why would I disable this!? - keeping enabled

CPU Common Options

  • Power Supply Idle Control: Default: Auto / Suggested: Typical Current Idle - Found a post here, but why that value? PSU is a Cooler Master V850, does it matter?

SMU Common Options

  • CPPC Dynamic Preferred Cores: Default: Auto / Suggested: Cache (7800X3D) - I get why the 7800x3d would be set to cache and 7950 to frequency (# of CCDs and task prioritisation), so just for verification, setting to cache good or not? - Leaving on Auto

AMD Overclocking

  • SoC/Uncore OC Mode: Default: Auto / Suggested: Enabled (sets Infinity fabric to run on max speed all the time) - why? performance VS idle-power? What are the draw-backs to this?

Thank you kindly for any response to the above!

EDIT: Ticking off answered points

Yesterday i Upgraded to the 7800x3D. Im on a X670E PG Lightning board.

For now i have in OC tweaker:

Game Mode: enabled (this changed some things automatically i think like voltage to 1.200)

Pbo: enabled

Expo Profile 1 activated to get my RAM to 6000mhz and 30cl

Unser Advanced tab

Pbo settings: Auto (Not enabled)

Resizable Bar: enabled

Is this it or am i Missing Something? I'll also be doing Thermal throttling and voltage throttling Tests in hwinfo64.

Cheers in Advance!

You don't need game mode, it id for double CCD CPU. You can play with nitro and timings, check those screens https://www.reddit.com/r/ASRock/comments/1r9q0vu/410_results_with_gdm_and_without_it/ You can play with PBO and CO, -20 should be fine

Game mode disables SMT on single core CPUs. Disables the non X3D CCD on dual CCD X3D chips .. I'm not sure what it does on dual CCD non X3D CPUs though Very few, if any, games benefit from it being enabled with single CCD CPUs With my daughters 7800X3D/B650E PG Riptide WiFi setup I run fairly conservative settings Performance Preset of 85c TJMaxx CO -20 all cores. r/PCBaumeister on Reddit: Optimal BIOS settings for 7800X3D and Undervolting
April 5, 2025 -

Hey community!

I'm looking for the optimal BIOS settings for my system to get the best performance out of my CPU (7800X3D). I also want to use undervolting to optimize temperatures and performance.

My system:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D

  • GPU: ASUS TUF RTX 5080 OC

  • Motherboard: ASUS TUF X670E WIFI Plus BIOS Ver. 3222

  • RAM: 32GB G.Skill Z5 CL30 6000MHz

  • PSU: Be quiet! Power Zone 2 1000W Platinum

  • Case: NEXT H6 Flow

  • CPU Cooler: Be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4

I've already tested some settings and run benchmarks using half-baked knowledge and crappy YouTube videos, but I'm not sure if I've found the optimal settings. So I'm asking you guys:

  • What BIOS settings are recommended for optimal performance of the 7800X3D?

  • How can I optimize undervolting for the 7800X3D?

  • Are there any specific settings I should definitely enable/disable on my motherboard?

I can barely find anyone who has my motherboard and is simultaneously sharing undervolting and optimal settings for the motherboard/CPU.

I'd really appreciate your experience and tips and can gladly share more information if you have questions or if I haven't provided enough details.

PS: I did a clean install of Windows 11, installed all updates including the latest BIOS, and completely reset it so I can start over with your help.

Thanks in advance!

r/Amd on Reddit: Tips and Tricks found with 7800x3d
September 25, 2023 -

Ok, I was doing some research on my own and found out few things right now that should or can be changed in BIOS:

- Most important is PBO Curve set to negative , try from 15 to 35 with cinebench tests, for me even 40 works but performs better with 30.

- PBO set to AMD with ECO Mode turned up to 75W and in pair with above Curve optimization seems to increase Cinebench scores

- iGPU Curve set to negative impacts overall processor performance ! for me - 15 works better !

- disable igpu

- set manual CPU SOC voltage to 1.2v or lower (on mine it was 1.275 by default with latest bios)

- set manual CPU VDDIO / MC 1.2v or lower (on mine it was 1.365 by default with latest bios ! Even though it should be lower than 1.3 by AMD safety) Ref. https://reddit.com/r/Amd/s/SyUV5EzB4n

Last point was most weird but quite obvious, reducing Wattage usage of iGPU allows processor to use more Power for cpu itself. I have found that best results 18680 Cinebench multi score was achieved with PBO curve set to -30 and iGPU curve set to -15. Nothing fancy with cooler solution, just old Cooler master Mirror for AM4 so it's not even 100% efficient with this CPU yet I'm sure someone with better cooling solution and this points can achieve even better results. I'm using Prime x670e Pro board so it's nothing fancy either.

Any thoughts or did anyone found out more about this chip ?
