Hi ppl, I will be a Ryzen 7800X3D owner for the first time. I have never owned an AMD before. I purchased MSI Tomahawk B650 motherboard for this CPU. I have a question for you. What BIOS settings should I use for the best performance and temperatures? Can I follow this : https://youtu.be/pcEUVuZsyek However he has 7600X. 😞 If anyone has a 7800X3D and an MSI motherboard, could you please share your BIOS settings?

Dear everyone,
I'll have my first ever AMD build in a couple of days and I'm not quite sure what are the absolute must settings within the BIOS that I'll need to change for the best possible performance?
I've read a few suggestions in the review section of the webshop I'm picking these up from, one guy mentioned "Memory Context Restore" needs to be enabled for a fast Boot up as well as a couple other things, but I'm not quite sure what else I'd have to tweak.
Could someone who has this combo(or a similar MSI board)provide some suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
CPU: RYZEN 7 7800X3D
Motherboard: Asus Prime X670-P Wifi
BIOS Version: 1808
RAM: 2x32 G.Skill DDR5 6000 (QVL)
PSU: Corsair 1000w
Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 11 Pro
Chipset Drivers: 5.08.02.027
I have scoured the internet and haven't found any definitive information on what the ideal settings should be for my setup. My biggest confusion is over EXPO. I've tried 2 different memory kits, both are on the QVL list for my board and neither will boot at 6000mt/s. The best I've been able to accomplish in my fiddling is enabling EXPO then changing the ram speed down to 5800mt/s - And this only works if Asus performance enhancement (APE) is enabled, otherwise it won't post. Currently I'm running my memory at 5600mt/s with APE off. I don't understand the connection and interaction with some of these features.
All I'd like to accomplish with this build is just to have it configured to it's optimum. I have no desire to use PBO and for that matter spend hours testing overclocks.
Please give me some honest and realistic recommendations for bios settings in this regard. I don't know how to get my ram to post at 6000 - even though it's QVL and many folks say 6000 is the "sweet spot" for these CPUs, mine simply won't accept it.
I know that 5200mt/s is the SPEC on AMDs site for my CPU so anything I can get over this is a bonus. I'm open to any useful feedback and will expound on any questions and will be free to immediately respond all weekend. Thanks in advance everyone.
i have an x670e tomahawk and 7800x3d. new to the amd platform. i have expo on, powerdown disabled, and mcr disabled. my boot times are like 60 seconds right now, which im ok with. to my understanding, enabling mcr is only for faster booting, please correct me if im wrong. i wouldn't want to jeopardize stability for faster boot times. running the latest 1E bios. over the past few months i'd run 3dmark and cinebench and my scores are always pretty low in comparison to other submitted results. granted this is a working pc, so i do have all the security and misc software running in the background.
i recently assembled a new pc with an asrock b650e and 7800x3d and out of the box, with only win11 and drivers installed, his cinebench scores always beat mine. both pcs have CL30 6000mhz ram.
is there a tuning guide or optimal/preferred settings for the x670e and 7800x3d?
any ideas on how to squeeze out a lil more performance outta my x670e board?
I am using Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Are there any settings I should configure in the BIOS?
Hey everyone,
I’ve recently built a new system and I’m trying to dial in the optimal BIOS settings for the best, stable gaming performance—specifically aiming to eliminate stuttering and micro-freezes. My setup:
-
Motherboard: MSI MAG Tomahawk X870E
-
CPU: Ryzen 9 9800X3D
-
RAM: Kingston Fury Beast 6000MHz CL30 (2x16GB)
I’m currently running everything at stock + EXPO enabled, but I feel like there’s more performance potential to squeeze out of this combo, especially given how sensitive the X3D chips are to memory timings and Infinity Fabric.
For those who have a similar setup:
-
What BIOS settings are you running for the most stable results?
-
Is EXPO I or EXPO II better on this board?
-
High bandwith mode for Ram ON or OFF? (if ON which option is the best?)
-
Latency killer On or OFF?
-
Any recommended tweaks to SoC voltage, Curve Optimizer, FCLK, or Memory timings?
-
Should I keep Precision Boost Overdrive enabled, and if so, what limits are safe for the 9800X3D?
-
Anything in MSI’s BIOS I should disable to avoid latency or stuttering (e.g., CPPC, SMT, Global C-States, etc.)?
My goal is maximum smoothness in games like Battlefield 6 — no stutter, consistent frametime, and no instability.
Would love to hear your working configs, screenshots, voltages, or general tips. Thanks in advance! 🙏

I just recently did an upgrade from Intel to AMD and this is my first time using an AMD CPU. I read a few reviews and articles on the Ryzen 7 7800x3d. I’m decently tech savvy however I stay away from OC and messing around in the BIOS. Now I guess I want to change that lol
I only game so I figured I might as well try to get some more performance out of my rig while not going too crazy and making it unstable but since I’m not familiar with this, I don’t want to make any changes without knowing what I’m doing and why.
What would be the best BIOS changes or any changes elsewhere ?
My pc build: (started with a prebuilt and swapped parts in/out so that’s why some cheap parts are still in it)

Hi, I'm running my 7800X3D with MSI B650 Edge, Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 and Noctua NT-H2. Used to idle at 44° C and randomly spiking up to 71° C just web browsing. Then I followed some tutorial and set these:
Precision Boost Override: Thermal Limit 80° C, Curve Optimizer All Cores Negative 20
CPU SOC Voltage Override 1.2 V
Now I'm idling at 41° C with some spikes up to 65 if I quickly open a lot of tabs or drag and shake the window.
Is there any other BIOS setting I can change to further lower temps without losing too much performance?
