While French pronunciation is always a challenge for English speakers, certain numbers also have some implicit math within the name, meaning a simple two-digit number can end up being a whopping eighteen letters (and three dashes) long. Luckily, there is some logic to the number system, which once you see it spelled out in English becomes easier to remember.

Is it possible to go from A1 to B2 French in 7 months - self learning?
According to the Alliance Française, it takes between 560 and 650 hours of lessons to reach a B2 level in French. Personally, I think it could take around 400-450 hours if one uses effective methods and a private tutor. So, if you do the math, this means you could reach B2 in 7 months if you practice/study around 2 hours every day. Do you think I should get a private tutor? Absolutely. Having a private tutor who offers conversation-based classes is very beneficial. More on reddit.com

Level 7 in French. Lessons feel more nebulous. Need some advice.

I'm not much higher than you (only level 12 here), but I do know that feeling.

Think of it like strength training. You can't get stronger if you don't struggle. My first advise is to push through. Yes, it's taking a long time, but if you quit now, where will you be in six months? Do you think you would be farther ahead in six months at the pace you're going at now? Compared to quitting, yes, you will!

One thing that helped me was to remove aspects of the lessons that were vexing to me. At around level 7 and 8, I was confused by the conjugation, the determiners (ton vs tes, son vs sa, etc.), and the introduction of new words. To make my job easier, I began using Memrise to help me learn new words, so that Duolingo's introduction of new words wouldn't confuse me anymore.

Another is to learn the grammatical rules of the language. One horrible aspect of Duolingo is the lack of context when they introduce new rules to you. You can solve that by going and watching French tutorials on Youtube. My favorite channel is Imagiers. If you scroll down the link, you will see several playlists (Unit 1, 2, etc.) where he overviews these aspects in a very thorough way.

Maybe you're doing all of these things already. Regardless, don't quit! Any progress is good, and quitting now will waste all the work you've already put in! We've all been there, and we will all trip up again in learning a new language. But push through! :)

Kato/Sutjiadi receive DSQ in the 1/8 finals of women's doubles for accidentally hitting a ball girl

They need to be a bit more careful but that was a very harsh call. Hitting in in pure anger would be one thing put that was a light enough backhand towards the back of the court. Another day the ball kid catches it and everyone cheers.
