I'm upgrading from a 3900xt. Still setting it up and checking stability. First set of 2x32 ram was bad and windows was crashing. Replaced the ram with 4x32@6400 crucial pro 40cas and it appears to be running good so far. After reading about problems with 4 sticks being able to run at expo, I'm glad mine are working properly. I used the settings in the link to set up my bios for the CPU. I'll get more benchmarks done this week to confirm the performance. So far it's comparing similar to some other results while using my rtx 3080. The few I've been able to run show the CPU is about twice as powerful as my 3900xt. I'm getting almost double fps in assetto corsa. Cinebench r24 multi core was in the 2400 range. https://skatterbencher.com/2025/03/11/skatterbencher-85-ryzen-9-9950x3d-overclocked-to-5900-mhz/#BIOS_Settings_Benchmark_Results-2 Answer from arkutek-em on reddit.com

Switched to 9950X3D, any tips for BIOS settings? : r/overclocking
July 23, 2025 - I would try the Skatterbencher 9950X3D settings, and you can try process lasso too if you want to mess around with it more. Google 9950X3D process lasso and there’s a good Reddit post about it. ... Don't enable X3D gaming mode. Use something like Process Lasso instead. ... process lasso helps, but isn't really required much as of lately.. just make sure that the bios is set to prefer "driver" rather than frequency or cache, then let the OS decide.

r/AMDHelp on Reddit: How should I setup my 9950x3d?
March 15, 2025 -

I'm coming from only ever using intel, I recently upgraded from
12700k to 9950x3d
32 GB DDR5 5800Mhz CL 38 to 64GB DDR5 6000Mhz CL 26
and I got an MSI X870E Edge Ti

I have project Lasso, am I supposed to restrict games to the 0-15 cores? And other programs to the rest?
Also there's the bios settings I have set it to Expo 1 and it matches the speed of what my RAM is designed to be.
There's also the X3D Gaming mode, which I did a quick search and decided NOT to enable.

Also PBO auto or Enable? I did Enable based off a quick search but honestly this is all new to me (AMD stuff) and wondering if I messed up or should do some extra steps.

r/AMDHelp on Reddit: 9950x3d - essential bios/windows settings?
April 3, 2025 -

Im just finishing my new build with a 9950x3d, ASRock x870e taichi, 2x48 ddr5 6000 ram.

I've seen a ton of different posts, etc recommending essential changes to make to bios/windows to reduce potential issues with core parking and others. Is there a definitive list of changes people should be making on a fresh build or is it still all trial and error?

Balanced power plan is the one thing I've seen that has been consistently recommended.

BIOS suggestions for 9950x3d | [H]ard|Forum
June 10, 2025 - I have mine set to -30 PBO with + 50 MHz offset. But I may have lucked out on a good chip for once. Usually a -20 to -25 should be good enough without adding MHz unnecessarily. They do nothing btw. And you are good to go. For bios get latest non beta that supports the 9950X3D.

r/ASRock on Reddit: Best BIOS settings for 9950X3D on B650E Riptide WiFi? (safety-focused, no performance loss)
July 13, 2025 -

Hi all,

Short intro/context:
I’m a happy owner of the ASRock B650E Riptide WiFi for more then a year (flawless with 7800X3D on BIOS 1.21, now updated to 3.30 before installing 9950X3D).
Everything works fine so far (with 9950x3d):

  • All BIOS settings on default except EXPO (enabled for RAM)

  • Benchmarks: 3DMark Spy test in normal range, OCCT (1h, Linpack/AVX2) — no errors, temps under control

  • Cooling: Arctic Liquid Freezer III 420 Pro

My concern:
Given the recent news about Ryzen 9000 burn-outs (esp. on ASRock boards), I want to minimize risk of CPU damage but without losing performance compared to stock/default.

What I’ve found so far (from Reddit & forums):

  • No universal "safe config" for this board/CPU combo exists — advice is scattered, sometimes even contradictory.

  • Most users recommend:

    • Curve Optimizer (CO) all-core offset: –15 to –20 (some run –30 but with stability risk)

    • LLC (Load Line Calibration): Level 2 or Auto (avoid Level 1)

    • PBO Limits: Motherboard or Default

    • TjMax: 85°C (lower for extra headroom, optional)

    • VSOC: 1.05–1.10V with EXPO enabled

    • C-State: enabled, but some disable for stability (mixed results)

So far, I run everything default except EXPO.
Temps and benchmarks are perfect, but I'm wondering if I should preemptively tune anything for extra safety — or if latest BIOS is enough.

My questions to experienced users:

  1. Which of the above settings are really worth tweaking for safety (burn-out prevention), and which should be left alone?

  2. Are my target values for CO (–15 all-core), LLC (Level 2), VSOC (~1.05V), PBO limits ("Motherboard") correct?

  3. Should I set TjMax to 85°C or just leave at default?

  4. Any settings I should not touch to avoid instability or hidden performance loss?

My goal:
Safety first — I want to avoid CPU/motherboard damage but I do not want to lose any performance compared to default/stock. No manual OC, no performance loss if possible.

Thanks in advance!
If needed, I can share HWInfo or BIOS screenshots/logs.

August 21, 2025 -

I've bought a new cpu and a new motherboard from MSI. What settings I need to enable in my bios of this cpu generation in combination running Windows 11 Pro?

I have RAM, I need enable RAM speed Xmp mode to run the specified settings. But what else need to be turned on to be run smooth? Also what powerplan needs to be configured in Windows 11?

In Windows 10 I've had it always on "high", but don't know what is recommended to do?

r/ryzen on Reddit: I got a 9950x3d: what settings?
September 25, 2025 -

I have settled into my PC and undervolted and overclocked my 9070xt. I have not touched the 9950x3d, I have only enabled PBO 1, nothing else.

I want to look into undervolting it as it can get quite hot (ex. Minecraft 4000 chunk render distance and stuff like that), but I am also unsure about other Gigabyte bios settings. I vaguely remember there being different PBO types too.

Any advice on what to enable / change is appreciated.

Undervolting is a good idea. The easiest way is going the all core route via BIOS Curve Optimizer. Download Aida64, start at something rather high, maybe -30 offset and then run the benchmark. Run it until it produces errors or at least an hour. If it runs for an hour without an error, you're probably good. Your chip can be stable at anything between -10 and -40, depending on the chip quality. Some chips can even be unstable at -10, often because one or a few single cores don't react good too the undervolting. In that case you'd have to do per core undervolting, which takes a lot of time. At that point you need specialized programs to find which cores cause the issues, so you can run them at lower undervolts (CoreCycler is your friend.) - but this is way more advanced. Here's a video guide as well!

Like the other commenter said, it's much simpler to do all cores and take what you can get. 9900X user here in a Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite WiFi7 mobo. I go into BIOS, PBO Advanced settings, and diddle around there. Generally you don't want to mess with the scalar as it makes the voltage scaling more aggressive and can impact CPU life. It's generally fine to max out the current and power limits as those won't end up being your limiting factors. The overclock value tends to do that. I set my OC limit to 175 and began with a UV of -25. That was immediately unstable. -20 was almost completely stable, and -15 has been solid so far with CCD0 reaching up over 6 GHz. An OC value of 150 would limit that to 5.9 GHz. I get peak temp spikes in the low 90's. I'm fine with that. If you want to shave the peaks off your temps, dial the power limit back to something closer to the stock 170W. I don't recommend Ryzen Master. I think it overcomplicates things and the auto UV optimizer is real shit. I ran it twice. It just crashed my machine half a dozen times and then arrived at a totally unstable UV value down in the -30's. I prefer the PBO Advanced settings because you know what it's doing.
